I'm more interested to know what happened with Rocker KOMP. It was down in the 2s and now it zooms back up to the 4s?

It had a horrible couple of months in Summer, but snapped back.

SUNNY #1 just as I had predicted (easy prediction).

Very nice bounce back for KOMP.

Best book ever for Smooth Jazz 105.7

Worst book for KXTE, very easy to predict with loss of Howard Stern. Yet the good news for EXTREME is that AREA 108 barely showed up at all.

I was surprised MIX went down two shares? Here's some theories: Some of their females switched to Christmas music on SUNNY? Some of their listeners switched (or spent more time with) KLUC because they are now more pop friendly playing MIX artists like Kelly Clarkson and Green Day? Another co-owned station, JACK is probably having some impact on KMXB. I don't think AREA had much or anything to do with MIXs decline since they are a non-factor at this point.

I would guess Beasley is not happy about COYOTE being #16 25-54 after a commercial free kick off and tons of money spent on TV. Yes, it's better than #21 as a standards station, but I don't think it's what they had in mind when they launched the station. The Beasley brothers saw this coming which is why they fired the PD after only 42 days on the job, although that seemed impatient or harsh. Some would argue an adult format needs time to build, maybe? (although JACK sure didn't need time), but others would say COYOTE actually sounded their best the first month they were on the air. One thing for sure, Beasley needs a winner or two in their cluster, none of their three stations are in the top 10.

I think KWNR should be proud that they are #2 despite the fact that a competitor came on directly after their audience. COYOTE launched playing 10,000 songs in a row commercial free, was all over TV, and plays near identical music. Yet KWNR was #2 25-54 and KCYE was #16. There's a long way to go in the country war,it has just started, but KWNR clearly won battle #1.

It's their worst book ever (as an 80s station), but up slightly from the past couple of trends. Still, I would say it's been dead for awhile. Maybe they are hoping that JACK peaks out soon and some of their listeners migrate back to STAR? I'm not so sure that's going to happen.

Congrats to Sunny, KOMP and Spanish stations for their success in the winter book. Here are some observations...

My guess is that JACK has peaked...It will remain in the low 4's...What's been left in its wake is what's amazing...STAR, the Point and to some effect KKLZ were CRUSHED by JACK. KKLZ 2.4, POINT 2.3 STAR 2.0. If STAR wasn't on death watch before, they HAVE to be by now. Will it be AC, Hot AC or Mainstream Top 40? You got John Tesh already, why not try to bite into Sunny's 8 share?

MIX took a 2 point dump...Were they a victim of JACK as well? AREA didn't seem to do much...KLUC hit some of MIX's core artists...Are the wheels falling off over at KMXB?

I do feel some early vindication..The Coyote, as I predicted, had crap numbers. Sure they peeled off a couple of points from WNR...but so what? It sounded great right until they hired jocks, then mysteriously everything including the music seemed to change. The Coyote, home of the 44-day PD, will not recover and will never make a serious run at KWNR.

I also predicted that El Kalle would not be a serious contender...After what looked like a promising start disappeared...Reggaeton will have its occasional hits, just like ska, but will always remain a fringe format.

Is Star dead yet?? hmmmmm..

Former Beasley Production Director, now PD for a rock station in Puerto Rico, Jamie Osbourne was in the building alot this past week and a half. Will he be programming Star or KKLZ? My bet is yes.
