Interesting DX-ing Wed. afternoon

I was driving through the Fall River, Somerset, Swansea area today on I-195 and was tuned into 107.3 FM (trying to listen to WAAF). Usually, I get bleed-over from Fun 107...instead I was hearing some Country format over the WAAF signal. I'm assuming it was "Cat Country 107.3" in the Atlantic City, NJ market, but I'm not totally sure.

Later in the afternoon, I was heading down to the South County area along Route 1, while listening to 98.5 FM (what I was able to pick up). Instead of hearing WBMX, I picked up a station calling themselves "The New K-98.5." I believe that's the new format on 98.5 in southern New Jersey. I didn't hear any kind of legal ID though.

What's more interesting to me is that while listening to the scanner in my company vehicle, I wound up hearing a Fire Department dispatcher from Cape May County, New Jersey...instead of hearing Warwick Fire dispatch on that frequency in question.

Very interesting atmospheric conditions on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

I remember listening to my Home Police Scanner about 10 years ago. One day I picked up all kinds of Sheriff Departments from down south. The thickest most Southern sounding accents you can imagine. It sounded like I was tuned into the Dukes of Hazard. Fun Stuff!
