I was about to make a similar comment as above. This guy should concentrate on getting his GED. If you're going to tell someone off then at least have your mom proof the letter so as not to come off as a complete drooling moron. His letter sort of lacks impact when all you can picture is a knuckle-dragging idiot behind a keyboard.

I was going to say the same thing but I was going to spell grammar correctly.

Wasn't aware they let the "clients" at the state school have access to crack pipes, silver spoons, and acid.

Wow. This guy sounds like he could be dangerous. "We know where you live" should ALWAYS be considered a threat of violence. It's easy to make fun of the guy's obvious lack of grammar and disconnected jumble of negative thoughts, but the fact is he signed a name to it and sent it to the station, and that tells me he is quite unconcerned with the consequences of sending threats to broadcasters. Document, document, document, and please be careful, Chuck.

Best,
Joanie

Thank you, Joanie. I appreciate it. He sent that to me at my Yahoo address which I use here. He is mad because, he most likely did not realize that he could be found out so easily. CW posted the actual FCC document which was sent to his home. I followed Djboutit's own links to pirate radio sites, including his online petition to the US government demanding "free radio," as he calls it.
He signed it Brian D. He gave himself away. If he thinks the US government is going to help him, then he is urinating in the wind.

Some folks use that as an excuse to put trash on the radio. Anybody can rhyme dirty words.

Have you ever noticed some of these same people who dig this crap, does not have a handle on how to use the English language, effectively? He has no credibilty, whatsoever. He posted his petition on the Community Radio Board.

He has no idea where I live. If he did, he would be very suprised by the reception. I remain steadfast in my resolve.

Now, when I think of Pirate radio, I think of the UK cats back in the 60's. They were not illegal per se, because they broadcasted offshore. They used the US style of Top 40 radio and adapted it. There was nothing filthy or low class broadcasted. Enjoy this link:

My goodness

I didn't realize that he is just a kid. No wonder he responded in that fashion. Surely an adult wouldn't. Here he is, from his Yahoo profile:

Yep, he's a kid:

Lives with his mom, dad and two brothers.

That's the part I like. I think he stopped his range at 99 because he can't count up to 100 yet. :)

Re: My goodness

Geez, he's 26 and still lives with his parents?

At 26 (10 years ago) I was living on my own, and planning my eventual move to Houston. I also was much more articulate in the English language which isn't even my mother tongue!

In his profile, Chuck, next to "Sex", he should have replied, "Not old enough".

He can't say you didn't warn him...

This is funny, but I started reading some of his previous posts (I got bored and started venturing around here)...I happened to catch this one in particular from a while back...(edited--actually this is Chuck's reply to DJ's post)

http://www.radio-info.com/mods/board?Post=309692&Board=houston

Basically, he started offering ways for people to start pirate stations in Houston, and Chuck, you warned him against it! I don't know how I caught that. I just picked a few of his posts at random and jumped on that one and thought I'd bring it back,

So, if we have the person right, he has no one to blame but himself!

ha ha!

I think Chuck may have blown it in that post when he ended his post with: "including those associated with large corporations who would be very cooperative with the FCC."

The use of the words "associated" and "cooperative" probably had the kid scrambling for "dictionay.com."

Ah, I had no idea that's what was going on. Thanks for the background; I was wondering how you could be called both a narc and a corporate dope fiend at the same time! :)

Pirate radio almost has a moral obligation to have better taste and appeal, not worse, than what you hear on the legit dial. If you're gonna go for it, for the love of God, don't waste it, since you're probably going to end up in jail or broke or both. Might as well not suck. Radio Caroline and the subsequent offshore stations, as well as the X stations south of the Rio Grande (while not pirate per se), proved that non-regulated radio could, in the past, be an important means of getting airplay for artists and songs that weren't getting the shakes from traditional radio stations. Most importantly, they served listeners with a better choice. It's easier to forgive a good pirate than a bad one. Of course, the law isn't so forgiving.

Thanks for the awesome link!

Sounds like this young man forgot a basic fact: listeners complain to the FCC about vulgar content and things they perceive to be illegal all the time. The difference between a licensed station and a pirate is that at the real station, the FCC doesn't immediately walk in the door with a warrant to arrest you and take all your stuff. I don't find it unreasonable to expect that radio professionals might be mightily offended by someone who hijacks the airwaves in order to break every radio law on the books, including the most important (unwritten) rule of all: Don't suck.

Anyway, sorry you got spammed, Chuck, but I know you'd do it all over again tomorrow. Good.

Best,
Joanie

You're right. I must have written that after cleaning out the chicken coop. It was some gooooooood chicken, though.

When I said "kid" I meant the other kid. :)

I keep forgetting I'm not a kid anymore. Funny thing about that word when you read it backwards. LOL!
