Unlike most markets where the holiday music station bolted to the top of the list, Miami-Fort Lauderdale defies the odds -- as usual.
Although Cox's 93.1 really benefited from the holiday music (and probably the TV ads that went along with it,) Clear Channel's WMIA did not see that much of a change. Yes, they went up a bit, but nothing significant.
Lite took a serious hit in AQH, and a little in cume. But overall, the urban stations did well, especially WEDR. Jamz jump was not in cume, so it must have been in time spent listening. Just the opposite happened with Coast. Not much change in cume, so time spent listening must have seriously dropped off -- probably hurt by the holiday music stations.
Talk, with typically drops off around the holidays, did just that in Miami. WIOD had one of it's worst books in a long time, as did WLRN. Even the Spanish talks were down.
