INTERESTING READ ABOUT RICH DAVIS

Rich Davis Expanding Station EmpireThe ALL ACCESS/NASHVILLE bureau has been hearing rumblings of a station takeover in NASHVEGAS. Apparently Top 40 WRVW (107.5 THE RIVER) is set to takeover another "local station" this THURSDAY, JUNE 15th at 5p, local time. Calls to WRVW PD RICH DAVIS went unreturned on TUESDAY but the CLEAR CHANNEL/NASHVILLE front desk operator confirmed that RICH was in what appeared to be multiple high level meetings and was unavailable. More details as they become available. Hmm Wonder what this is all about....

Wonder if it'll be 98.5 in Cookeville. Would be interesting to see them break away for local commercials. That's the only CC market that would make sense to simulcast in and save overhead. I haven't comparedthe numbers for WGIC and WRVW in the Cookeville market. May have some merit.I can't see them doing anything to the actual Nashville cluster, unless they flipped the Beat and the Riverfor better Beat coverage (although that may not make that much of a difference.)Seems like some publicity stunt that will be for a limited time.

If I'm over at CC and wanted to extend the River's reach by taking over a small market frequency, I'd be looking at my Sparta/McMinnville group, where I've got a Top 40 at 107.

That sounds logical.Rich is my old PD, we still talk 2 or 3 times a week. He won't even tell me. Should be interesting and must be BIG!

Well, I guess we are admitting to being clueless on this scam. A gas station, huh??? $5,000of free gas. Brilliant marketing. Rich hid that from you? Ah, nothing like a novel new radioidea. I am just glad I didn't have to tune in to find out what was going on. The Rivercontinues in march downstream.
