Interesting Summer Book notes

Live 105 beats Alice in the 18-34 all week numbers and ties Alice & the Bone in Morning Drive.

Alice Morning Show crashes in all demos. Loses half their shares 25-34. Takes the whole station with them.

KGO back in top 3 adults.

KKSF goes 17th to #5 adults from Spring to Summer.

KFOG in the top 2 Adults and KFOG Morning Show does the same. #1 in PM Drive.

KSOL at the top of 25-54 in AM Drive and Midday.

Max sinks lower.

and the now cancelled "Strawberry in the Morning" beats Live and Alice 18-34 and comes in 3rd overall...2nd english speaking

WAY TO CC!!!

In the end, Strawberry pulled some good numbers, and reading about them as he's sitting in nights. It's too bad. But isn't that the big, corporate, radio way these days though?

It's now evident that the spike in morning numbers at Alice was due to Stern going to Sirius and people giving them a little time in the interim until they made the switch to Sirius or settled into a new terrestrial habit. Although, being top 5 in a market like San Francisco is nothing to dismiss.

Congrats to both Strawberry and the Live 105 morning show for showing the serious growth they did despite all the mindless scrutiny from local industry folks nay-saying. Anyone who's been in this biz for more than 5 minutes knows that new shows don't become big overnight. Especially when you're replacing shows as established and successful as The Doghouse and Howard Stern.

18-34 in morning drive looks like this for the top 5 stations. #1 KSOL, #2 KMEL, #3 Wild, #4T Live 105, #4T Alice. One thing to point out: Seems that September was HEAVILY weighted for Hispanic and urban. KFOG, Alice, Live 105, KSAN all took big hits across the board in phase 3.

***Sarah and No Name have their audience, they love them, they'll be fine. We all knew they weren't as huge as the initial post-Stern numbers had everyone thinking. Again, top 5 in demo in market #4 isn't a terrible thing.

***Woody and the Live 105 AM show/co-op are where they are after 9 months on the air. Good for them! Like them or not, the show sounds organized and well planned out (unlike the Alice show). Sounds like a much younger/hipper L&T.

***Strawberry, sorry my friend. At least they kept you on the station. You have a job and went out the best way possible. Can you say "upper hand?"

AMBER ALERT: Where is Adam Carolla? Looking, looking, looking, um, uh, looking

I guess I'll have to get back to you. How much longer does this joke called Free-FM last? Will they bring the Doghouse back to try and fix this? Would that even work? They have got to do something. Not even Dr. House can fix this one!

Enough blabbering for now.

The Shadow Knows!

Shadow,

Where does Free FM rank in each day part? Mornings, mid-days, evening...etc

You have that information you can pass along?

And the CBS blunders keep on coming!

1: Blink
2: Stern
3: Free-Fm
4: Jack
5: Movin

How long will Greg Stressel and the boneheads at Columbia Blunder System last? Most businesses with these many failures would be out on their tush's!

Typical CC move on Strawberry...very reactionary in that building, especially when it comes to KYLD...But that move was also probably made to cut costs. I doubt T-man is costing them as much cash.

Free-FM...Wow, what a mess...a lot of blame to go around on that one. Joel Hollander front and center, please.

Oh yeah...KNEW, soon to be UNrated, joinging KQKE! Way to go CC and Bob Agnew! Signal problems aside, CC could've really done something with those two stations.

AMBER ALERT: Where is Adam Carolla? Looking, looking, looking, um, uh, looking

He held steady in most categories except a big jump in the 18-34 men (from #17 to #12). Although that is because there is a show a few people listen to after him now instead of a repeat of a show that no one listed to the first time it was aired.

Couldn't be further from the truth. CC opened the wallet big for T-Man. The numbers I've heard tossed around would floor you. Many, many millions.

And upon further examinination of Starberry in AM drive: underperformed the rest of the YLD station (never a good sign) and big 3rd month (dragged his overall 18-34 up) which I'm told he wasn't even on the air for. (unless someone wants to correct me on that)

Actually....from what i have been told...Strawberry's last 2 trends were solid and had 1 so so trend.

And you are correct about the T-man money....HUGE CASH was spent. It will be interesting to see how the fall book repays CC for their investment.

Anyone have a clue when the next trend comes out??

Fall Arbitron began on 9-21, which I believe is approximately the same time frame in which T-Man started. So, the Summer belongs to Strawberry.

SF Fall - Phase 1 Arbitrend will be released on 11-16. It will not be a good indicator of T-Man's appeal, rather it will be indicative of how well he is being promoted (and being sampled).

I was under the impression that there was a jockeless buffer period of about 3-4 weeks between the end of the Strawberry morning show and the begining of T-Man correct?
