Interesting

I would assume this web is somewhat new or updated considering the 2008 post-it note comment from Rick Dees. Take a look. Anything strike you as somewhat odd?

www.harrynelson.net

Specifically, that there is absolutely no reference, comment, mention or recommendation from Saga or any Saga station, like the last one he was on -WPOR. Zilch. Do you think Harry is trying to put that memory out of his mind?

Doesn't Portland, Maine look a little small-time next to Boston, New York & San Francisco?

True...but:

1. This does appear to be a site where is he clearly trying to find a job. Not that I am advocating any type of accuracy in employment history god forbid, but didn't he just work there for the last couple of years?

2. No recommendation from the executive head of programming from a public company (Mr. Goldstein) that you just worked for.

3. Wouldn't a Cary recommendation carry some weight? He was a child prodigy at WBZ at one point wasn't he? Not to mention WCAU in Philadelphia. He's the agent for Howie Carr is he not? Zilch.

I guess my perception of his website is that it's a promotional tool rather than a resume.

And if I were hunting for a major market gig, I wouldn't try to pitch how great I was in Portland, Maine. And that's not meant as a slam to Portland. But when you've got Boston and San Francisco, etc., to brag about, hey....

That having been said, Cary Pahigian is one of the more quietly powerful broadcasters out there, and if he and Harry are still on good terms, I bet Cary could help him land a job just about anywhere.

Harry is using the website as a promotional vehicle. Isn't that what a website is for? Information and promotion? No need to rattle of a litany of call letters and names - just the ones that will get the attention of some major market companies. It's a quick stop with an aircheck or two.

That said - I'm SOOOOOOO jealous (in a good way ;) ) of H.Bud - he's rockin' at WCBS-FM this weekend! Go, Harry, Go! Post one for us!

He's said he's mellowed on programming at this point and wants to have fun with his remaining years in radio on the air.

figure I throw this in...
I'm on vacation through this weekend in the NYC/CT area I'll remeber to listen to 101.1, CBS-FM CBS-FM CBS-FM ( ;D ( that liner never gets old

Harry was on allaccess.com yesterday with a piece on the CBS deal. Best of luck to one of the best! He has to cringe when he hears what passes for full time talent in NYC these days.
