Interference on WTAM last night 10-15-11

Was listening to WTAM last night around 8pm and clearly heard another station underneath WTAM. I could hear a female voice talking but couldn't listen to it long enough to ID the other station. It was really wrecking havoc with WTAM though in Vermilion. Anyone else notice interference on WTAM like that or know what other stations could possibly be causing that kind of interference?

Considering B is out in Vermilion, and the time was possibly before sunset there, that could well be WZFG.

Remember, "The Flag" was running full-power at night for a while under STA during the worst of the flooding up there, and Bob Frantz even mentioned its interference to those listening to the west of WTAM.

That's not too far from Cleveland, though. Is WTAM's ground signal really that susceptible to interference that close?

I don't remember the WZFG-on-50kW-nights interference made it to Ohio at all.

WZFG, by the way, is licensed to the Fargo suburb of Dilworth MN. No, I'm not making that up.

Not like it was Friday night. Often though it will sound different at night though then during the day like the signal strength varying or something while listening in a car ...never could tell what exactly causes that interference. Will have to try listening more at night and see if I can null WTAM out enough to ID any other station trying to come in and see if it is WZFG.

Several months ago, I heard another station distinctly under WTAM in Lodi at least a couple of nights, WAY after sunset (10PM-ish in the winter), though it was too weak to ID, or even to make out much of the audio. Lodi is only about 25 miles or so from WTAM's stick. I believe Vermillion is significantly farther out than that.

Was it in English? Every now and then the Cubans get feisty and crank up 250kw or so on 1100.

I don't think it was Spanish, it sounded like an English talk or sports station. Might have been WZFG as they are 50kw-ND days, and it must have been a strong signal to encroach on WTAM only 25 miles out. I think all the other 1100 daytimers are 5000 watts or less (one or 2 might be 10kw). Or maybe it was the Grand Junction CO (KNZZ IIRC) on 50kw ND daytime power, and the propagation was really good from that direction.
