Ever since I first started traveling to Shallotte several years ago preparing for my move to here, I noticed significant interference on 94.5 between WKXS in Wilmington and what is now WTKN in Myrtle Beach. That isn't surprising because of the central location but usually WKXS would take over once I went a few miles north or east.
I finally moved down here in August and I noticed the interference had gotten worse in favor of WTKN. In fact I went to Wilmington not too long ago and WTKN was still causing interference in Leland which is WKXS' city of license. I also noticed that WTKN is now broadcasting in Mono which I'm assuming happened when they switched formats to Talk. I've read that Mono signals travel a greater distance than Stereo ones.
Is this true and could this be the reason WTKN is causing more interference to WKXS?
