International Dance Radio

Lots of dance radio in the UK (and even more stations running regular dance shows) but these two stand out for me for different reasons:

Capital Dance is quite commercial musically, but extremely well presented with a great mix of new and old. Afternoon drive host MistaJam is a force of nature and his passion for the format and the music shines through every time he opens the mic.

Centreforce grew from a 1990s pirate station in London and is a lot more specialist and varied in terms of genre - pretty much every show is mixed live in their London studio, with the DJ on live camera.

Lots of local/regional dance stations as well, reflecting different tastes in different regions. For instance, London's dance music is more urban in flavor, with drum and bass and garage influence, Liverpool's dance music radio is more bouncy and hardcore in its playlists.
 
I liked realdanceradio.com out of the UK several years ago, unfortunately it’s defunct now. The UK has some pretty good dance music stations, and also Eastern Europe.

In the Chicago area we have WPNA.FM (103.1) which has an excellent mix of international dance hits, and of course, there are quite a few Polish dance tunes in the mix which are pretty good…

Great thread I'll check out some of these streams. Beat 100.9/Mexico City is so good. Despite a lower streaming bitrate I've been listening to it periodically for around 15 years.

And Beat in CDMX is one of the few that get decent ratings and revenue. The two from Buenos Aires mentioned before get neither.

That is in large part because in 2016, the "Distrito Federal" which contained Mexico City ceased to exist, and the area became officially known as Ciudad de Mexico and began a transition into a federal entity that gave it status equal to Mexico's 31 states (though technically the area cannot constitutionally become a state.) Everything that used to display "Distrito Federal" or "DF" became "CDMX"

Except that "Mexico City" is an English translation of the name of the city,

But yet there hasn't been an americanization of Ciudad Juarez, which is on the border, into Juarez City. It's always referred to as Juarez, by most though. I just find it interesting how over time, the names of some international cities have changed, whether official or not.

BTW, how do feel about the Gulf of Mexico name change to 'Gulf of America'?

That is part of the Trump show... sort of like renaming a casino.

I suppose I should keep in mind that people in the rest of the hemisphere, "America" is NOT the United States but everything from Canada to Chile.
 
In terms of decent ratings and revenues, I wonder which international stations would be considered from moderately to highly successful on a pretty consistent basis. I know some stations previously mentioned have been around only just a few years while others have been around since the early to mid-2000s. Longevity may not necessarily reflect financial stability as ratings and revenue sources wax and wane and change sources. I know of a couple of stations that had been running since the late 90s only to close up shop back in 2022, 2023 or so.
 
One thing I recall that I do miss (even though I remember others despised them for whatever reason or trolling for spite) were those dance station webcasting lists. Whoever the person(s) that compiled those station listings seemed to have a knack for pointing out popular stations at the time from each country, the most being from Europe where EDM is more commonplace. The lists seem to cease in the early 2010s. I haven't quite found anything close to what those lists provided for me elsewhere. IMO, I found them educational and I believe they broadened my horizons in dance music.
