Internet only stations

Listening to the new Grown Folk Jamz got me interested in exploring some of the internet only options which I have long neglected with my zeal for terrestial radio.

I do think there are some pretty good stations. WBMX.com has been around a long time though I haven't listened to them much. Channels featuring Herb Kent selected songs and the original Hot Mix 5 mix songs out of Chicago are a great concept.

I really enjoyed Southern Soul Radio, Soul and Blues Report Radio and WJPC Chicago however in addition to Grown Folk Jamz. These internet stations have radio formatics with nice sounding voicers. In other words, they are not just jukeboxes but actually sound like real radio stations. I have never cared all that much for services like Pandora for this reason. I want to hear something that actually sounds like a radio station. Much of the younger generation probably doesn't care and just wants to hear their favorite songs.

While there are some good internet only services with radio formatics in the Southern Soul/blues niche, I haven't really found one in the deep classic soul area. An internet station with the deep classic soul and the radio formatics would be very attractive to me. I do listen to Soul Town on Sirius quite a bit.

I also thought WJPC Chicago was pretty interesting. It sounds like a terrestial radio station and according to the website will be on a low power signal in Chicago next year with Russ Parr in the morning. The music I was hearing was Urban AC.

I want to give major props to 2 internet stations I had on today from live 365. :) These 2 stations have some of the deepest 60s/early 70s Soul playlists I have encountered anywhere ever. Both the stations are jukeboxes however and some professional liners would really complete the package, the music though is simply wonderful.
