Internet Radio Station

OK, I am looking to get my feet wet with Internet Radio...I am going to sign up for an account with Live365 and test the waters on an alternative format that primarily targets male listeners between 25-54.

I need a snazzy name, any ideas you'd be willing to share?

I am also interested in finding a male or female voice for imaging. Because this is BRAND NEW...actually not even up yet, I am looking for talent that sees value in getting experience and growing financially with the situation as it goes along.

Thanks

X

That's where I have my station. Are you doing yours in BASIC mode or LIVE/RELAY mode? If LIVE/RELAY, what automation software will you be using, if any?

"The X Factor", X?

Isn't that the name of the horse and pony show done by that horrible Nazi guy in FOX?

I am not so familiar with any automation software...is there any you can recommend that doesn't cost a "King's Ransom"?

I really do not like the basic simply because of the gaps it leaves in between the songs and I am not looking to be a Jazz or Easy Listening station.

I don't care for BASIC mode either, it's hard to arrange a tight programing schedule.

I run mine in LIVE mode and use StationPlaylist Pro along with it's companion program Creator (stationplaylist.com), the support is great and the software is very robust, even some terrestrial radio stations use it. It doesn't waste memory on flashy looks like a similar product and provides more features. Of course that is just my opinion. You'd have to try it out your self to see if you liked it and if it meets your needs and you can ask questions in their Forum. I believe they have a 30 day trial, maybe even a payment plan if you feel you need that.

Whoops! Don't know what I was thinking; now you're going to think that I don't want you to succeed!! I'll try and come up with something better tomorrow.

Station Playlist Creator is used by many internet broadcasters and some small market stations who are looking for an inexpensive software alternative. It's about $300 bucks...about on a par with the software for most mobile DJ applications. It allows you to set up music catagories and some basic rotations. As I understand it, it's not as versatile as, say a Selector or Music Master, but for its' application, it's pretty good.

I even know one such small station that has figured out how to get it to backtime for joining network news. So, for an internet station it should be just about all you'd need.

If you want to try something completely free for automation software, you can try DirEttore Free, available at http://www.mixtime.com/. I've only tinkered around with it, but it looks like it can do the job; I'm not too experienced though when it comes to automation.

I have the Professional version of Direttore, and for a basic automation system it REALLY does a wonderful job. I have run it for over a month completely unattended without any hiccups... You can setup rotations that self generates playlists, or load an m3u playlist, etc. It is really a neat piece of software for the price. You can try the free version, but to get the most out of it, you will want the professional version. I only payed about $45 for it. oh yea.. and the support forum for it is great too.

Thans for the feedback.

I checked out the Salem created system...looks like overkill for me and the learning curve.

I will check out the other systems mentioned...THANK YO ALL SO MUCH!

I just checked this out online...Looks promising enough to download...hope I can figure it out...it doesn't have a users manual with it.

DOH!

Thanks again.
