Internet Stream Processing

Just want a few opinions on the processing on this stream. What do you like and dislike about it? I'm in the process of setting it and I want some input from the pros ;D You'd be surprised at what's processing it.. ;)

It's at 128k and it's a Rhythmic CHR..

Windows Media Player: http://174.37.110.72/tunein.php/w102_2/playlist.asx

Sounds fine to me.loud,punchy..nice job.i just can't listen to this format for very long.I like the old CHR from days back.Have fun.dialed up this format for a station, used the "crap" preset:) no offense meant....

Thank you! It's the Omnia A/X..

Crap preset.. that made me laugh :)

Actually when i was programming chr i started doing cross over urban and played dance mixes at nite.we killed the other chr and beat the dominant urban station.Lots of folks said i was doing churban first.never got credit for it.Just a gut programmer instinct.

Have you tried the Breakaway software? It's pretty darn good.try it ,you may like it as well.Breakaway live kicks ass.

Yeah, I've tried out Breakaway.. My problem with it is it doesnt allow equalization settings and it takes up a lot of resources on the PC. I only have a 1GB machine to run the processing software for this station and it would burp occasionally. What I REALLY wanna try is the Omnia 9 where Breakaway is fully customizable.

How did you go from programming the format to hating it?? Haha

use to love it.lyrics were a lot cleaner. that was many margarita;s ago.But i can still set a kick ass box,though..bump it,grind it,have fun.

Use a Winamp plugin as an EQ - BAM, that problem solved. You could build a new PC for cheap with a dual or quad core CPU to handle breakaway AND your automation system...

If you're going for Winamp plugins there are several including the Sound Solutions free multiband limiter compressor. There's a low overhead version that's intended to run on a 1gHz PC, too. It's about 5 or 6 years old, but it works pretty well and does a good imitation of an Optimod 8400 or Omnia5.

The A/XE is cleaner and more polished processor than Sound Solution. It's basically an Omnia.3net (with simplified controls) with an integrated streaming encoder. Why step down?

I would just make sure you don't overdrive it and that you don't drive the WMV encoder with 0 dBfs - something like -3 dBfs is much better to avoid the codec induced clipping.

I would also use AAC rather than MP3 for the best audio quality.

I use the Omnia AX/E for a couple of station's streams. It's easy, and it runs as a Windows service, so it's really stable. Sounds good too. Sound Solution has a few issues, namely being unable to properly control peaks and a bit of spectral "wandering" to put it best.

It's good for a PC that can't run Breakaway, pretty low overhead.
