Internet VO?

When doing voice overs, do you charge the same for work that is going exclusively on the internet-- little flash videos, greetings, etc--as you do for other mediums?

I'm starting to get more and more work that's exclusive to a single website and was wondering if the standard is to keep the same pricing structure you use for other VO work.

Thanks.

No, but don't lowball yourself just because it's the internet. I always check out the website before I price. Some folks do a LOT of business, and they have a budget. Some are just looking to get away on the cheap. I pass on those. I can't even turn on my board for $25 LOL

If it's a local-oriented web site, I charge my usual spot rates for that market for spots and my usual narration rates for narration. If they want it cheaper, they can find someone else and discover that you really do get what you pay for.

Those who've freelanced for a while know that the cheap clients are also the worst clients to deal with. Call it the PITA factor.

You know that so true about the small clients being the most high maint. I did some stuff for 2 years for a big client. After the first session, they sent me the script, I read it 3 times and that was it, they did not even want to do a phoine patch! But some of these club jocks that want a $50 club drop, can be the worst. No offense, not all of them are like that, but it does seem the little 1 time deals are the worst.

My model is that I can only read one project at a time. <g> You are "spot on" about the low ball clients. When I first began I tried to help people out, but I can't afford to do that anymore. I will do a set amount of "psa" work a year. For station stagers and ID's, most of my clients like to pay a monthly rate. Have fun!
