I was listening to Neal Boortz the week before, he had brought up and idea which i don't think will ever happen but like I always say expect the unexpected he had the idea of the Cox Enterprises buying the Atlanta Braves and how it would be a good fit for Cox if they did that, I was wondering if a situation like that happens (I.E. Cox buying the Atlanta Braves, I.E. radio broadcast rights belonging to another company all together Clear Channel) how would that affect the radio broadcast rights of the Atlanta Braves and what would that mean for Clear Channel and the games on WKLS 96.1? give me some ideas and what ya think.....<P ID="signature">______________

Off the top of my head, I do not know the length of the contract the Braves have with Clear Channel, but I doubt that it would have any affect if Cox really wanted to purchase the Braves.

Cox would simply buyout the contract from Clear Channel and move the games to a Cox radio property.

It will be interesting to see if Cox does become a bidder, because it might mean signal a change in business strategy to become a much bigger player in the cable business.

Given the fact the Time-Warner announced that the sale of the Braves is designed to sweeten the take from their desire to jettison Turner South, I think the likelihood of an individual person purchasing the Braves is pretty slim and a broadcast corporation with a stake in cable like Cox or Comcast will be the ultimate owner of the Braves.

I doubt that there is buyout clause unless Clear Channel wanted out carrying the Braves. Cox would have to honor the contract.

The way Del Core and company have managed to turn the Braves into a ratings and revenue loser, 96 Rock has the same three share and GST actually lost ground with the Braves, you'd think CC would love to give the rights back.
