Johnny Hyde left home at age 14 and talked himself into an air shift at KAIR in Tucson. Since those days he has worked as a DJ, PD and music director at a number of radio stations but "specialized" in the West Coast. The interview is an 8-part talk of early rock 'n roll, various formats (Drake, Boss Radio, free-form, etc.) and the people who guided and worked in them. I found it very interesting and worth listening to.
In part 8 he gets into the reasons for the demise of radio under the current owners/operators and his perspective is especially interesting as compared with opinions of radio professionals on this board.
