Introducing myself

Now that I'm an approved member, it's customary to introduce myself in this space.

For decades I was one of those “Town-to-town, up-and-down the dial” guys, working at everything from 250 watt daytimers to 100kw blowtorches coast to coast. Did everything from board op to program director along the way. Saw a lot of things. Met a lot of people. Won a bookcase full of awards.

This is the part where I'm supposed to pledge to be an active contributor to this forum, but honestly I'm more likely to just be a lurker. The primary reason I came here is to keep an eye on some of the markets where I worked. But I don't think I'll participate much because of the general negativity I've observed in this forum. It seems to have more than its share of people who only know radio from the listener's side, and even though they don't really know how the industry works, they cosplay experts on the subject and shout down people who have actually been there. There's lots of messages from people who clearly lack a fundamental understanding of radio, think the way things are in their market is how it is in every market, and are just repeating things they've picked up on the internet.

In spite of all that, I'll keep visiting, because it's good to see some names I recognize from the past. But don't expect a lot of posts from me.

Good Evening Gentlement:
I've always been interested in old rado talk shows from Cincinnati, I'm also an old CB'er from the 70's, I was trained as an Electrical Engineer from Cincinnati. I notiiced you had a post from Ted Mckay: he was perhaps the best talk master in Cincinnati radio history.

I get what you're saying. I've been in the business since 1978. Join us in trying to teach them. A few get so flustered at facts they get removed but some have actually soaked in what we say. So lurk and feel free to set folks straight in a direct but sort of nice way
