Investigation Discovery

I am going to start getting this channel and was just wondering what you all that get it think of it? Looks pretty un-interesting to me...another A&E, TNT, or truTV? How is it different from Discovery Times? Never got that either. Thanks.

I'll preface this by telling you that I am a big fan of the Discovery, Science and History channels. Just to add context to my comments below.

You're quite right to be disinterested. Basically, it has reruns of old episodes of 48 Hours, a couple of generic 'true crime' series and not much else. It's pretty well summed up here as another A&E, only with less variety.

One thing I must disagree with is that it ever started out very good - this one was mediocre from the start. It was better as Discovery Times and that's not much of a compliment. We've had it since it started as ID and I don't think we have ever found anything of interest to watch there.

They also rerun A LOT of Dateline broadcasts too.

Basically put, if you've ever watched MSNBC on the weekends, it's like that.

Speaking of A&E, I wonder why this network hasn't been rebranded to match what they currently air! Back when it started, it was supposed to be a network heavily oriented towards the arts like Bravo (Which has become NBC Universal's answer to FOX Reality Channel IMO) did. But it seems as though they've placed FAR more focus on the E part of its name than the A part IMO.

At least Time Warner had enough sense to rebrand Court TV as TruTV. Makes me wonder why Hearst-Argyle (??) can't do the same with A&E

Agreed. Case in point - National Geographic Channel. At least they produce the investigatigative documentaries broadcast on there themselves.

JMO....

Cheers :)
