Ion Gets A Makeover

ION Needs to develop new and original programming again! How about a reboot of "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea" or "Your Hit Parade?" And maybe, we can bring back "Kraft Music Hall" and "Hollywood Palace!" What do you say?

You have an interesting definition of "new and original".

Ion will sell their stations to the wireless companies LOL

I wonder how many of Ion stations have actual channels above 36?

Based on their investments into Mobile DTV and the AirBox service, I would suggest ION is probably not interested in the spectrum auctions.

It doesn't matter whether they are above 36 or not if the FCC is going to repack the entire band anyway. Stations will move all over the place regardless of channel position.

Reruns of "Mama's Family" were beating MyNetwork TV and were nearly beating the CW network.

I remember reading the head of Ion (or was it "I" at the time?) said, "He didn't want to be known as the Mama's Family Network."

There's an Old Irish Expression: Be Careful What You Wish For....For You Shall Surely Get It ! ! !

At least during the "Mama's Family" days, the channel had some viewership.

When is Ion going to give it up? Name changes,
promotional changes, can't even beat the CW

Um, at one point last year, Ion was beating the CW (which had "Ringer" starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, who may return to TV very soon).

I'm pretty happy with Ion's programming over the last few years. When I didn't have cable, I liked being able to drop in on a episode of Criminal Minds (which airs only on A&E in the cable verse) and Cold Case (a seriously under-appreciated show) from time to time. Even Flashpoint isn't too bad of a show, though they seem to air it really late in the evening considering it's their only exclusive program.

ION plays shows they have rights to practically to death. If they would air 1 episode a day instead of sometimes as many as 5 or 6, they might be better off.
