ION gets three TV stations in the deal

http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/ion-buys-three-more-stations-bringing-total-to-63/191401

The stations affected are:

ION Media is acquiring full power UHF stations in St. Louis, Boise and Columbia, SC. All three stations are currently ION affiliates. WRBU in St. Louis and WZRB in Columbia are currently operated by ION with Gary Chapman, former CEO of LIN TV, listed as trustee.

KTRV in Boise is owned by Block Communications and switched from a My Network TV affiliate to ION last fall. Until 2011, KTRV had been Boise’s Fox affiliate/.

“Growing our TV station portfolio will give U.S. households access to much-needed affordable independent entertainment, kids and lifestyle programming,” said ION Media CEO Brandon Burgess. “These three important acquisitions will add 5 million viewers to our networks’ audience reach.”

It would be better news for viewers if the main network had better programming or if they would bring some of the better subchannels to these markets. Sadly, I'm sure all that will accompany them will be Qubo, ION Life and the Shopping Channels.

Either MyNetworkTV or ION should do more than be a distribution outlet for recent reruns.

I agree about ION at least it's better than when it use to PAX & I Suck Network it should be more about original programs than just repeats of shows. At least it isn't paid programming like PAX & I Suck Network were.
