ION Schedule April 2010

Enough!!!! Bring back "Mama's Family."

Who owns the rights to this? And why will no one air it? :)

I don't know if ION still has the broadcast rights to it. And Viacom had the cable rights to it. I remember a couple years back they showed a couple marathons of it on CMT.

TBS should've renewed their contact when it expires. Mama's Family is a lot better than the crap they show now - Married with Children, The Office, and that Tyler Perry crap.

A few years ago when Mama's Family was still on ION I remember reading a very interesting post on IMDB about the will of producer Joe Hamilton. If I remember correctly according to the will ten years after the death of Joe Hamilton then all rights to Mama's Family will go to his oldest daughter Carrie Hamilton, followed by the next oldest Jody and then the youngest Erin Hamilton.

Carrie Hamilton passed away in 2002 and in 2011, that will be ten years after the death of Joe Hamilton and Jody is still with us so I assume she will be getting to rights to Mama's Family next year unless she decides to give it all to Erin. Who knows what will happen if any of this becomes reality.

Last time I checked the website Ioffer.com I noticed a LOT of people were selling homemade DVDs of the complete series to Mama's Family. Well at least one can view the Harper clan without commercials.

Meanwhile ION continues to endlessly re-run the awful I Married Joan and the almost as awful My Little Margie late nights and in the mid-mornings. Too bad they can't air better public domain fare or pony up for other long vaulted decent fare. It's a no wonder these two I Love Lucy rip-offs were epic fails.

I never see those shows on Ion on Dish or on the local station on the antenna.
But does Ion only make up their schedules a month at a time? Guess they're at least realistic there.

I wouldn't go as far as say "I Married Joan" is an epic failure since there were close to 100 episodes made of Joan though something tells me only about half of those shows are in public domain since it seems the same episodes DO get shown quite often such as online on sites like www.archive.org .

However with that being said I still wouldn't put I Married Joan on the list of great TV" though.

"I Married Joan" = not an epic fail.

The early 90's sitcom "I Married Dora"? Now, THAT was an epic fail!

Speaking of public domain, NUTMEG TV the Public Access Station that serves 8 towns in Central Connecticut shows a movie every Monday Night from 9PM-11PM. All the movies are very old movies that I've never heard of. Might these be public domain movies?
It is likely.

With shows like these and the expansion of regular programming in prime-time, it's much better than the alternative: infomercials.

there stations are lifeless with no local programs, why dont they just make ION a cable channel

It is, in some areas (where no local ION station exists) and on the small dishes.
