ION Television: how much longer will it last?

Has anyone seen Ion Television's fall line-up? It is as follows:

Mon-Thurs
8:00AM-9:00AM qubo on ION (Wed-Thurs)
3:00PM Ghost Whisperer
4:00PM Ghost Whisperer
5:00PM Ghost Whisperer
6:00PM Without a Trace
7:00PM Without a Trace
8:00PM Without a Trace (Mon-Wed); Criminal Minds (Thurs)
9:00PM Criminal Minds (Mon-Tues, Thurs); Without a Trace (Wed, Fri)
10:00PM Criminal Minds
11:00PM Criminal Minds

I got that from SitcomsOnline.com. NCIS is expiring.....what a joke of a channel! Pretty much 3 shows all week long and movies on the weekends of course.

They have surely gone downhill. I rarely watch anything they offer.

But I think My Network TV or the CW will bite the dust first. YAWN

Shouldn't this be Wednesday through Friday? Last time I checked, TV stations must show at least 3 hours of E/I a week.

Let me guess what the movies are -- "The Godfather".

When they increased their schedule, I had high hopes for Ion. But now since they're showing only three drama series exclusively, I think Ion is going back to where Pax and I were a few years back -- in dire straits.

With a schedule like that, I think Ion will close its doors first.

Here in San Antonio TX, the local My ntwk, KMYS TV-35 is changing to CW at the end of August. KMYS was with MY ntwk for about a year and now their going to another loser network?

Interesting that KMYS is a Sinclair station. Didn't Sinclair go with MyNetworkTV instead of the CW because the CW wanted to be compensated?

I wonder if that's still the case?

1 of 5: I wonder if KMYS will keep the MyNetwork affiliation and clear their prime-time lineup starting at 9pm. CW and My provide so few hours of programming per week that it wouldn't be hard to do both.

until this recession forces consumer demand for the Slap Chop, ShamWOW and the Awesome Auger down to zero.

If they would get back to showing shows like Who's the Boss?, Designing Women, Mama's Family, Growing Pains, Green Acres, and The Wonder Years it would be worth watching since TV Land and Nick @ Nite seem to be hooked on the same three or four shows. I'm not getting on the roof to move my antenna to see our local ion affiliate for those three shows listed.

Sorry, my mistake. qubo will air on Fridays from 8-9am as well.

They really are in bad shape. Nobody is going to watch these shows all the time. I can't see them lasting much longer. I agree that they will go before the others.

Speaking in bad shape, today at work during my lunch break, I had a chance to sample the Ion subchannels, which we get over-the-air. The main Ion channel look great, but Qubo and Ion Life looked like utter crap -- the picture resolution looked like it was way below 480i, to a point where it was nothing more than a series of blocks forming a picture. I don't know if it was the TV itself (it expands the picture to fill the screen, among other picture modes) or the channel, but if it was the latter, I could get a much better picture on YouTube on my computer.

None of the networks are going anywhere, but I will say this: ION and My Network TV did themselves in.

Taking a look at ION first, they were great in the PAX days, and when they hooked up with NBC/U for some show swaps, but they jumped the shark by pulling the plug early on Palmetto Pointe. That was my favorite show on the network, and given the right scheduling, could have competed with The O.C. or One Tree Hill.

As for My Network TV, although it was a different concept to most viewers, I liked the telenovela format. The only mistake with the telenovela format was hey didn't run the shows long enough. Desire and Fashion House should have had enough material story wise to run for the whole season plus summer repeats instead of the "block" schedule they used. The telenovelas could have easily taking in viewers who aren't interested in comedies, and gone up against the likes of Telemundo, Univision, and Telefutura. They also had something special in the Tony Rock/Under One Roof/In Living Color block on Wednesday nights but blew it up.

Is this the Monday through Thursday only schedule? If so, I am wondering why "Without A Trace" is scheduled for Fridays at 9 PM... I like how they have that show and "Criminal Minds" rotating in the 8 PM and 9 PM hours throughout the week... like it really makes a difference? It's only two of three total programs that your network is airing right now! I mean, seriously, who is going to watch a three-hour block of "Ghost Whisperer" every single day?

If this is a Monday-Thursday-only schedule, I would have to assume that they also air Qubo programming on Friday mornings in the same hour. I could be wrong, but I think ION blows out their entire daily "lineup" on Friday afternoons/evenings to show the same movies that they show on the weekends.

Who's the boss? Is on Hallmark Channel for a few more weeks 1PM-3PM. Then in September all programming 10AM-6PM is produced by Martha Stewart's production company. Hallmark Channel becomes the exclusive home of the Martha Stewart show that currently airs on local stations including Channel 20 The CT (WCCT-TV) in Hartford. Also in that block will be a show (or two) hosted by Martha's daughter, not sure if Whatever, Martha is gonna be in that block as well.

There's not much reason to suspect weekly soaps on the cheap like those would have worked better than as a strip. Lots of things are on at times one of the major networks run comedy (rarely in recent years have you seen three or four competing comedy blocks regularly scheduled); it's not as if My Network would have had some wide-open, untapped market available to them.

I think this is because KCWX (the current affil) lost their Belo LMA with KENS and is now running literally (if you go by the IP edits on Wikipedia) out of a home in Austin. It was on a short-spaced channel 2 and is now on the just-as-unrecievable VHF channel 5, so I guess the CW finally became exhausted with KCWX.

Sinclair did go with the CW in many of their duopoly markets though, so it was just more an issue in 2006 of getting a fair agreement.

Sorry, a couple of flubs on my part; that IS the Monday-Friday schedule (weekends are movies) and qubo airs on Fridays at 3PM as well. I couldn't go back and edit.

I think I've said this before on previous threads, but Ion could save itself a lot of money by selling all of broadcast stations it owns and turning into a cable/satellite channel. A cable channel has to cost a heck of a lot less to own and operate than 60+ broadcast stations.

I would use the following schedule if I was programming ION:

12PM-2PM Criminal Minds x 2
2PM-4PM Without a Trace x 2
4PM-6PM Reba x 4
6PM-8PM MASH x 4
8PM-10PM Family Feud x 4
10PM-12AM Ghost Whisperer x 2

The still have rights to Reba and MASH, but both shows currently aren't airing. I don't know about other shows they used to air like Mama's Family, Wonder Years, Alice, or WKRP.
