ipartyradio

I was just wondering is this on any of the HD-2's in NY or is it just online for now? Also how long before it replaces 92.3 HD-1? ;D

It is run by CBS (I'm saying that because their website looks like a CBS one)?

It has absolutely no connection to CBS. CBS uses WordPress VIP for their CBS Local/CBS Radio sites, and that website is also built using a WordPress template.

It also has no connection to any terrestrial broadcaster, it's a pure internet stream.

Okay. I just have never heard of it. Listening to it now, sounds pretty good. I say iHeart should buy it. Would kind of match the "i" theme. :)

It's now my #1 Internet radio preset, replacing Pulse 87.

Will Calder works for 92.3 Now, so that's a small connection to a terrestrial broadcaster. iPartyRadio was started in 2005 after the loss of Energy 92.7/5 in Chicago. It used to be on WMYX-HD2 in Milwaukee. It's definitely programmed like it were a real commercial radio station, with loud audio processing, radio edits (no curse words or club mixes), heavy rotation of the powers, and voicetracking (I think the first few hours on Saturday were live). Pandora is missing all those elements, and that's why I don't listen to Pandora. It would make a great addition to iHeartRadio as Club Phusion isn't as pop-heavy as iPartyRadio, but it's doubtful Clear Channel would want a station programmed by someone working at CBS.

The 32k stream sounds really good, better than the sound quality of HD2s.

It would be tough to make the case that Clear Channel needs more dance channels on IHeartRadio. They currently offer 7, even outdoing satellite radio.

They have:
Spin Cycle- "Mixing and Remixing the Hits" (that certainly sounds "pop heavy.")
Electric Sound Stage- "Not Your Typical Dance Station" (whatever that means).
Master of the Mix- "Where the Mix is Mastered."
Rock the Cut Radio "Electronic."
Club Phusion-"Your Dance Music."
Pride Radio "Your Life Your Music" (heard in NYC on WKTU HD2)
Trancid "Trance Direct From the Best DJ's."

Honestly, 'KTU should open up their HD-3 and put Club Phusion in there.

Based on the rumor rate, iPartyRadio might land on 92.3 HD-3. ;D

I wish Reno NV had ipartyradio on a terrestrial station.

And to think it could of happened, if I only knew that a translator was for sale on 102.5 FM and sold for only 20k

Anyways back on track I do believe iparty should be on a FM stick somewhere. NY would be nice cause it is #1 but at least on a stick in a top 50 market

"I" hope never! :D

What makes iPartyRadio a success is it's operating philosophy ... it's pretty much a labor of love for those involved. There are few/no ads (I've never heard one). From what I can tell, the owner operates it at a nearly 100% loss. As a result, it sounds FANTASTIC!

Reminds me of an old AM oldies station that operated under the same philosophy back in the 90s. The owner got out when some corporation offered him $1 ba-jillion dollars. Can't blame him.
