Ipods or old Airchecks in CD form

With the Loren & Wally 25th Anniversary disc, maybe it is time for the
airchecks to move to IPOD or collectors edition CDs?

Buffalo & Tommy Hadges "Rare Tape Nights" on WBCN (legend has it many of these early 1970s broadcasts are somewhere on cassette)

Harvey Wharfield's final WZLX show where he gave a special bon voyage
to Jerry Charm and ZLX management (Harv must've airchecked this, though I know people who did tape it off the radio)

or even Donna Summer live on WRKO (not a joke - they broadcast her live
from the Wang Center)

There must be LOTS of cassette material floating around to make this worthwhile.

I just read about an incident with The Clash on WBCN going ballistic on callers during an interview in the 70's,it would be interesting to hear stuff like that.

You want podcasts? You got em!

You guys are in luck! I'm launching a podcast section on airchexx.com as soon as I work out the bugs. Might have it running by tomorrow night. This has been kinda in the planning for a few weeks now but I had to get settled in up here in New England first.

I think some of you will enjoy what goes up. Right now just planning on turning the more high-fidelity airchecks into podcasts... I mean, it's kinda silly to do it with an AM-quality aircheck when your ipod/mp3 player can give you such great quality. Aaah, anyway just check out the site later this weekend and see if it's up yet. I have a lot on my plate today with a Thanksgiving dinner at mom's today and work the rest of the weekend.

Please stop using RealAudio and use MP3s instead. That's all a podcast is, an MP3 file. Thanks.

Re: Death to RealAudio

Doesn't the latest version of Real Player have the capability of playing MP3 files??

THAT'S AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And please feel free to use all the airchecks I gave you as the beta testers!

It sure does. A few versions of Real Player have been able to play MP3 files. It'll play WM files too. And I still can't figure out what's so bad about Real Player.

Re: THAT'S AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a great idea. Now, I haven't forgotten about the podcast thing since Saturday when I posted this. My server decided to throw a fit on me and then this damned factory I had to resort to work in 12 hour night shifts for interim income is wiping me out!!!

Pods are still coming. But keep in mind, I *still* can't put up unscoped things unless I want RIAA and their minions sending me a whopping bill.

Crooks.

Anyway, I'll try to get some stuff up today. As for Garrett's stuff, I have the masters somewhere. Gotta unpack em I guess.

NOT going to happen. Unless you guys wanna step up to the plate and pay for the extra storage space. The mp3's used in the podcasts are going to be fee based. Real Audio will remain free. TINY fees, like $.50 or something. Sorry. Our server fees keep going up and nobody donates so I'm doing it this way. We don't have unlimited space, you know...

Do you guys know how much larger a file mp3s are compared with the tiny little real audio files I put up? Anyway, I'm only gonna put up as podcasts the airchecks for which I have a really high quality master. Makes no sense to do one for an old AM station (unless it's in AM Stereo!.. which of course is a wonder to hear!)<P ID="signature">______________
