IQ 106.9 calls WPHT "Liberal BS"

A tag line I just heard on 106.9:

"WPHT: Live and liberal... part of the BS in CBS."

::)

I would love it if WPHT was a liberal talk station, but of course they're not. Smerconish is a moderate at best, and of course for the time being, they are still the home of Limbaugh (as his ratings continue to plummet).

And as for the "BS in CBS" part... didn't they steal that from The Simpsons? It sounds so juvenile, and isn't even funny.

Heard another liner today, something to the effect that 106.9 is "fighting against the CBS liberal agenda".

And I love how their weather reports keep saying "backed by the National Weather Service". Well, where else would they get their forecasts from? A Joey Reynolds weather rope?

Sounds like they're getting desperate to start picking on the other station rather then just ignore they exist. WWDB didn't do anything that classless.

The best one so far has got to be......

"Michael Smer Commie wants to be Obammie. Part of the BS and CBS."

That one is at least a little more creative than the rest of them. But I agree overall, they make the station sound immature, unprofessional, and desperate.

Well it seems like Walter Sabo is half-assing this station. First, they bring up Al Gardner, who was washed up down south, hire Larry Medente who was FIRED for being a bit of scum bag. They take washed up syndicated talkers Hannity and Rush who continue to trend down nationally. Where exactly is the IQ? The way I see it, Philadelphia just got one more terrible talk radio station. There is no reason for me to end my XM/Sirius contract soon.

Hmm, Rick Santorum considered the National Weather Service a somewhat liberal government-funded program, and he introduced a bill to get NWS out of the forecasting business (search "National Weather Service Duties Act of 2005"), so why aren't the right-wingers at WWIQ steering clear of this "socialism" in favor of the private-sector? Sounds like another case of corporate welfare!

As stated in another thread, Sabo left Merlin months ago. This is more Randy Michaels on a par with the whole Power Pig WFLZ v. Q105/Z95 v. B96 strategy (did he attack the competition when he blew up WLW all those years ago?).

I particulary liked the "Move up from 0ne-oh-six-oh am, to 1069 FM"....sandwiched between spots. Note to Al: Use your attitiude sweepers to highlight your material, not your stop sets.
Seems like alot of radio 101 stuff is lost on this bunch. That being said, I don't think anyone at one-oh-six-oh a.m. is losing any sleep.

Not that it has anything to do with 106.9, but one-oh-six-oh a.m. is down to 4th place in the overall ratings with cume down for the past 3 books, now below a million. So they might be losing sleep. Just not because of WWIQ.

The snotty stuff might be more national than just PHL.

In St. Clair PA today, while trying for the Mets game, on a radio with prohibitive tuning accuracy, I briefly came across the Saturday midday fare on WAEB 790 and WABC 770.

The WAEB fill-in host was all over everything Democrat. Absolutes like 'totally' and 'completely laughable' filled one sentence. I'll enjoy Hannity from time to time when tuning by ; to me he is more fluent and well-spoken than Limbaugh.

WABC, meanwhile, was ripping other news stations in NYC *in a recorded promo*. 'Repetition, no depth' ..... I don't remember the other phrases and shin-kicks they used. But I doubt they were targeting Merlin's 101.9.

Blessedly, WFAN was making it through the thunderstorm static and took me permanently away from that gang-colour crap.

There's enough BS in both parties. The choice people have to make is which BS closely fits into the BS they've been raised to believe in, then find a station, left or right, that is spewing your choice of BS.

CBS liberal agenda imaging is idiotic. People think you are talking about CBS TV...not WPHT. IF you are going to call them out, call them out by name

So far, nothing they have done makes any sense. Flush out the religious (conservative) listeners, then stunt with Hannity 1069 (like anyone cares). Then get Rush Limbaugh to do liners, add a very much hated Larry Mendte to the mix, and the best they can talk about is hamburgers on the morning show, and add to that a bunch of never-wases from NJ101.5. I find it funny when I heard Mendte talking about how severe they should treat drunk drivers the other morning..like his moral compass is pointing due north. It's laughable considering the overwhelming majority is liberal. CBS would not have left Rush or anyone else go, if they were really the cash cow they want you to believe.

That's not Rush doing liners for the station. That is a guy pretending to be Rush doing the liners.

Its Hypocracy.

WWIQ seems to be having a parade of, or a revolving door of local hosts noon-3pm. They all sound like they're 20, their first radio gig, and very unprofessional. I've scanned by, listened for a short time and then moved on. I've not put WWIQ as one of my FM presets, because so far I've not been impressed at all. ABC radio news sounds fine - haha !
