IQ this morning

Bring back Harold Camping. Morning radio in Williamsport sounds better. Mike Murillo hosting. Put this station and it's 11 listeners out of their misery.

A radio station in Des Moines, Iowa.

Or Radio station where Ronald Reagan did sports?

Answer should be phrased as a question. "What is WHO?"

Three (or maybe 4?) words... "IQ MORNING BUZZ"!!!! IJS

I WISH.

FWIW, they just blocked me from commenting on their Facebook page. I understand them pushing an ideology, but to purposefully inhibit discussion and other viewpoints is embracing and endorsing ignorance. They linked to an article quoting Mayor Nutter who claimed a "Sandy Hook" happens every day and portrayed it as a foot-in-mouth situation. I chimed in that he's right and to belittle him is to belittle the incredibly important situation of gun violence in our country. They posted an image of Hannity about a week ago with a caption plugging an interview with somebody on the Gosnell case, and I commented asking where Hannity was when the story broke over two years ago.

I've been checking out Dick Morris on 'PHT in afternoon drive and while it sounds like he's about a million years old, he holds a decent discussion.

Oh how I wish I wish I wish 106.9 wasn't being wasted

Funny, weeks go by.... morning show staffed by a temp agency... and CBS or anybody else does not appear to be making a move to buy this station. Maybe they are sitting tight watching the asking price drop, waiting for Randy's venture capital backers to get really desperate.

Here are the scenarios....

1. CBS ends up buying it:

(a) Puts KYW on FM; moves syndie shows back to 1210
(b) Puts KYW on FM; shuts out the syndie shows.
(c) Moves local-live to FM; puts syndies on 1210 (simulcasts morning show)
(d) Simulcasts local-live; shuts out syndie shows.
(e) Simulcasts syndie shows; dumps local-live except morning drive

2. Clear Channel ends up buying it:

(a) Keeps syndicated shows; puts Quinn and Rose in AM drive
(b) Keeps syndicated shows; puts Imus in AM drive
(c) Keeps syndicated shows; develops local show for AM drive with known local talent.
(d) Keeps syndicated shows; develops local show for AM drive with outside talent brought in.

Listen..we need these shows to be cleared in Philly. IQ is the only place to get a Conservative viewpoint on the airwaves in city..except perhaps 990. The ratings fro Glenn, Rush, and Sean have been better since moved to the FM signal. I hope Randy Michaels and crew somehow are able to keep this station going.

And 1210.

No, Philly NEEDS a danz station.

The only place...? There are conservative talk shows on 560, 710, 740, 770, 800, 830, 920, 990, 1040, 1180, 1210, 1360, 1420, 1440, 1490, 1570, 91.7, 101.5, 107.5... not all are full time conservative talk but have shows that take conservative viewpoints, as on the "Religious" format stations listed.

WVCH hasn't had USA/IRN's "Point Of View" for quite a while. And, Seltzer, there should be enough conservative content spread out among those listed stations to satisfy you.

I recently saw a billboard for IQ on I-95 northbound near City of Chester, Delaware County. It promoted Rush and Hannity. Granted, I don't travel all the interstates in the region, but this is the only billboard for IQ I've seen. Still, I'm surprised they have even one billboard.

Clear Channel won't let its syndicated conservative talk products go without a home in Philadelphia. If CBS were to buy 106.9 and simulcast KYW on it, CC would find another home for Rush et al. Or, at least Rush. The only question: will it be a decent signal?

The more this plays out the more I think CBS decided to gamble on the long game, and are going to win.

They knew that Harold Camping wanted too much money for the frequency, and that Merlin was going to outbid them.

They knew Merlin had no chance of success; they looked at the messes in NY and Chicago and knew that they posed no threat.

When the IQ lineup was announced, they knew it was no threat. No matter what ratings you post, you can't get enough local sponsors for conservative talk in Philadelphia to justify the fees that those shows were demanding. That was why they dumped them from WPHT (which I'll bet dollars to donuts is billing more even with lower numbers now). Thus they knew that Merlin was going to hemorrhage money.

Now, when Merlin is forced to sell, CBS will snap it up for a song.

By this time next year, look for KYW-FM on 106.9.

CC is currently at the limit of five FMs in Philadelphia; it may even be the only company that's maxed out in the market.

CC is maxed out on FMs in Philly just like they are in New York. That's why they bought 710 WOR to put their talk shows on. I think in Philly they eventually buy 1210 or 610 from CBS to run their syndicated talk shows on. CBS nationally seems to have no interest in running news talk formats. It does two non music formats. Sports and news. Which means it has one too many AM stations in Philly.

I think CBS ends up with 106.9 but I don't think they put KYW on it until 1060 starts to falter in the ratings like 610 WIP did. I might actually put WIP on it and try another music format on 94.1.

Waiting until it starts to falter might be waiting too long. CBS might better look at WTOP. Moved to FM when it was doing well and did even better on FM. Now one of the top billing stations in the US.

The signal on 1500 doesn't reach a huge portion of the market. You can't compare that to 1060.

No, WTOP has always been the strong performer. On AM, it got share numbers as good or better. 1500 may not get a great signal into some fringe areas but it reaches areas where most people are. KYW, on the other hand, is worthless in Bucks County.

Any chance CBS moves ogl to 106.9, and makes 98.1 & its superior signal kyw news radio? Just doesn't seem like a smart move to move KYW to a signal that doesn't reach everyone 1060 does.
