IRISH MUSIC!

Other than WROL 950 AM, the only place you'll find Irish music tomorrow is on the internet. You can find it on WTKK-FM's HD2 channel or at these web pages:
http://www.liveireland.com
http://www.pandora.com
http://www.radiocelt.com
As well, you can surf Shoutcast and check out other Celtic stations that are steaming music.

And of course, WBAI in New York is streaming Radio Free Eireann from 10 a.m. until late afternoon. You'll find it here:
http://www.wbai.org

If you try to listen to Irish music on the other stations tomorrow, you'll probably only get "The Unicorn" by the Irish Rovers or the "auld come all yes" sung by Bing Crosby & Dennis Day. (Of course, the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem and the Wolfe Tones offer Authentic Irish Music, so why not ask the DJ to play 'em?)

If you have Satellite radio

St. Patty's Day Radio launches on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, starting at 6am ET on Sirius channel 18 and XM channel 45.

St. Patty's Day Radio will feature a blend of Irish music from rock acts including U2 and Van Morrison; traditional artists like the Chieftains and Clancy Bros; and contemporary Irish artists such as Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly.

Why have Irish music? Since the radio board members criticize other music format such as Urban, Spanish even in San Francisco radio board, they start criticizing Chinese music program. Should we have only English-American music, not Irish or Galeic music? What do you think?

Just play U2 and The Cardigans and all is well.

Blonde Europeans, whatever.

Some station in South Carolina has flipped to "Shamrock 107.9" and are supposedly giving away a pot of gold (read: format flip) tomorrow at 12 noon...

I suppose just as Boris Pickett enjoys Halloween, and Arlo Guthrie savors Thanksgiving, Dexy's Midnight Runners appreciate St. Patrick's Day very much. Come on, how can Kiss 108 not play "Come On Eileen" at least one time today?

This is something I was just noticing!! Irish music doesn't seem to be on nearly as much as it used to be. I went to Yes.com to see if anyone was playing "The Unicorn" by the Irish Rovers, and it looks like only 3 stations in the area are playing it, WROR, WMJX, and WWLI. It doesn't look like WSRS or any Clear Channel stations are playing it at all. But I did notice that WRCH just played "Mummers Dance."

A #1 hit if I remember right. In college radio Dexy's had early hits like "Geno" and "Burn it Down"
(we played 'em on WMWM)

("tuning radio" at start feat. Sex Pistols, "Smoke on the Water", something in French--sounds like it's tuning on AM) You won't hear that on WODS..."wanna talk about Oscar Wilde, Brendan Behan,
Sean O'Casey, George Bernard Shaw..." (says F word toward end--they could have made a cleaner version with 'bloody' or something)
