IRNUSA Feed Problems

Folks-

This post is addressed to those who carry the TOH news feed from IRNUSA Network. We've noticed that the feed often cuts off the outcue of the :05m TOH feed. It seems especially noticeable when "Hope Douger" is reading the news--the feed ends and cuts off her name. In addition, when we join the BOH feed, we join at the very end of a spot before the news begins.

I've talked to the network and they believe the problem is on our end. I disagree because our clocks are accurate.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks!

I dont know if your automation can do this, some can't, but I program ours to open the network a second early even while the previous event is playing and close the net a second late even if the next event has started. Sounds Great

They have had this problem for a few years. Despite all the possible changes we made we noted this continued. It's at the network.

I'm thinking they may be set up as the AP news network was discribed to me by their engineer. He said a computor controled the switching and if the announcer wasn'r done wel,,,,it cut him off. At my statiion we use IRNUSA from 5am to 9am weekdays and I have herad what you discribe during the other segments beside top of the hour news too.

Are they still running those annoying Andy Willoughby spots for the "Three Step Plan"? Along with the poor audio and other technical problems, that was a big reason we took Step 4 and dumped them last year for Fox News Radio.

For the record, a local station here has CNN news and it does a similar thing. It happens at night when they, a class D station, are running only 17 watts so maybe no one is listening. I contacted them several months ago but it never got fixed. In this case the news cuts at exactly the top of the hour and the program resumes at around 4 minutes after but with local material, not from CNN.

I will forward any plausible suggestions to their attention.

Thank you everyone for weighing in on this issue. I was certain that the problem was on their end, not ours. And now you have confirmed my belief. Geez, it is annoying... You would think a network could get its act together.

And, yes, Andy Willoughby and his three step plan are at the top of each hour... LOL!!...

CNN Changed their "format" Jan 1 as follows

CNNA
:00 News
:02 Spot A
:03 CBS Marketwatch (which is contracted seperately)
:04 Marketwatch Spots
:05 (CNN) Spot B
:06 End of Feed

CNNB
:00 News
:02 Spot A
:03 Spot B
:04 End of feed

So many small stations may have not picked up on these changes yet.
