Irving translator owner files objection

And their target is KSKY. K260BP 99.9, owned by Penfold Communications and translating KDKR 91.3 from Decatur, is complaining about the co-channel KSKY repeater in Fort Worth. They want the FCC to deny an extension of the STA for the repeater.

This could get interesting. The repeater was displaced by a full-power station in Greenville (KTXG) on their original frequency, 90.5. So they switched to 92.1 and were met with objections about interference to KTFW-FM in Glen Rose; moving to 99.9 with just 53 watts, they immediately applied to boost their power to 250 watts. The FCC will have to decide whether the objection has any validity, and if so who will prevail---the operator of a translator or of an "emergency repeater"?

That's very interesting. I can only assume kdkr is ALREADY transmitting at 250 watts, per their coverage. But yes, I've wondered how long Salem can use every freq they can find on the FM band to micro-repeat their various signals around the metroplex. I can't imagine those things bring in THAT much revenue to make it worth whatever their leases are and how much it costs to maintain that equipment.

I'd have to put the chances of that at 99.99%. Radio Aardvark, operating at 0.1 watts on 99.9 near Belt Line & Coit and belonging to a board member here, had his signal squished into oblivion by the kdkr translator.

Yes, they've been running 250 for a while now. The license to cover was granted June 21.
