Is 101.9 HD2 just down temporarily or is it gone for good

Smooth Jazz at 101.9 HD2 was off the air at 2 PM and now at 4:30 PM (Friday) was still off. Does anyone know if it is gone for good or off just temporarily.

Thanks

Bruce Slutsky

I just turned on my HD Radio and WRXP HD2 was not there so I frantically searched online and was glad to find this site and thread.

I went to 101.1 and the display indicated that I was listening to 101.1 Ch.1 and could step up to HD2. The same option was not available on 101.9. 95.5 showed the option to move to the other stations on that frequency. The 101.9 screen says nothing now. It just says WRXP and doesn't show the frequency anymore like it used to.

This has me pretty concerned. I bought this HD radio specifically to listen to this station and have been listening for about a year now just about every night. There have been outages, even for more than 12 hours but during those times I was able to get to the station but not hear anything.

I have never seen this particular situation. Oh man I hope it's not gone for good.

HD radio is just a joke and it's a shame because it could be so much more!
They don't put any money into it and most people don't even know what it is.

It's Saturday, 8/1/09 at 3:41 PM and still no signal for WRXP HD2 (Smooth Jazz). I hope it's back on Monday as someone said.

I too purchased a HD radio and a HD Tuner just to continued to get Smooth Jazz.

If it's gone for good that would most certainly be a bummer.

It's important that 101.9 HD2 (WQCD) have good livestream so people can listen before they buy an HD Radio. CC and CBS doing this very good.

Sunday Aug 2nd 2:34 am, still down, what a shame, I loved this station

The good thing about this experience is, it shows that apparently WRXP is committed to keeping Smooth Jazz on HD2.

Computer blew up. Took that long to get parts and get it repaired

As radio becomes more of a data center than a radio station, perhaps the concept of a "hot spare" will take hold...

/works with a data center
//runs a web station
///sees little difference

With the cost of a complete spare, not only for 1 station but for multiples in a group cluster, it would be cost and space prohibitive to keep such spares on hand. Each one of those computers are specialized for each station.

Hardware-specialized, software-specialized, or data-specialized? In the former case, you're stuck; in the latter two cases, there's nothing that can't be fixed with a disk image and a copy of Norton Ghost.

The thing here is that there seems to be an "oh well" mentality when a signal goes out; gone, apparently, are the days when the air staff went to the transmitter shack to broadcast if the link from the studio went dead. At a management level, I'd say the commitment to keeping HD2 up is less than five-nines. (But then again, when the only thing an HD2 is, is a drain on the bottom line, I guess I understand.)
