Is 102.9 moving more to mainstream rock?

It may just be a fluke, but during the noon hour today, I heard 3 songs in a row that I knew. That has never happened since they flipped to active rock. Also, is 102.5 moving more toward... I don't know the term, more toward rock away from pop, even since the Venus debacle? Doesn't really make any sense to move their two stations closer in format, I know.

And, while I have the floor, isn't it about time for a flip or two? How long has it been since a major format change on one of the fm stations?

When 102.9 adopted the slogan "Everything That Rocks" that told me they were opening their playlist. And they have. While you can still catch a 90's whiner song or an emo band, The Buzz still tosses in classic rock standards and tunes recognized by the upper end money demo.

Regarding format overhauls, 106.7 was working a different format per year from 1997-2002 (Planet, Blazin', Rooster, Kiss, not in that order). This sports format may be their longest lasting yet. With 106.7's ratings there may be a change in the "clouds".

104.5 dropping music for talk four or five years ago was a big shift. April 1 and 2, 1999 had KDF change from rock to country, and 102.9 from country to rock. Oldies 96.3 to Jack was two years ago (I think), and 97.1 traded their Star light rock/All-80's-all-the-time-and-then-some for oldies, then to classic hits.

I don't know if anyone noticed the Phoenix to Fish change. 1160 selling its dial spot to Bott really wasn't a format change as very, very oldies on WAMB can be found somewhere.

You can't get one by me -- I realize you're hinting that 106.7 is going to a 24-hour all-weather format as "Cloudy 106.7." Unless of course, they keep their afternoon sports show, in which case they'll be "Partly Cloudy 106.7." (Hey, put Bill Hall on there, and it stands a chance of working!) ;D
