Is 1230-AM about to drop Air America??

Today's Media Morsels column in THE OTHER PAPER is entitled 'Is Columbus's liberal radio station doomed?'

I read the article. Reads like someone has been grabbing info/rumors off this message board and a couple of the links posted in these 1230 threads and put together an article about it. Nothing new and even uses some of the same terminology used here and on the linked blogs. Bottomline... no real new information of fact finding involved.

1230 may change formats? Talk about non-news...that station rarely keeps a format or approach for more than a couple years. What they're flipping from or to is pretty much irrelevant. It'll last a couple years, then we'll get something else. Yawn.

If 1230-AM were to drop Air America here, would they have the show of support from listeners like they did in Madison, Wis.? Their show of support in Madison was so strong C.C. decided not to drop the format in favor of Sports. Note the articles below:

MOCK FUNERAL PROCESSION MOURNS AIR AMERICA
LEADERS SAY THEY WILL FIGHT FOR LIBERAL TALK RADIO
POSTED: 7:36 pm CST December 20, UPDATED: 9:42 pm December 20, 2006

MADISON, Wis. -- Some Air America supporters held a fake funeral
procession Wednesday, saying that a Madison radio station pulling the
plug on the liberal Air America Radio programming is the "Death of the
free speech." VIDEO: Watch The Report . . .

CLEAR CHANNEL KEEPS AIR AMERICA STATION --- By RYAN J. FOLEY

MADISON, Wis. Clear Channel Radio says it will keep its Air America
affiliate on the air instead of switching the progressive talk format
to sports on Jan. 1. Citing the overwhelming negative reaction to the
planned change, the nation's no. 1 operator of radio stations said it
would keep The Mic 92.1 FM on the air as a progressive talk station...

The difference between Madison and Columbus is that Madison's progressive talker pulled a 3+ share in the market but found it hard to get advertising. Columbus pulls what a 0.8?

If a funeral service were held in Columbus for 1230 it would not be of the mock vareity.

Dumed?
You bet!
I wasn't able to hear the official announcement, as my computer literally shut off while he was just ready to give it.
