Is 96.3 WDVD shifting from Hot AC to Top 40/CHR?

The last couple times I've been in the Detroit area, I've noticed that 96.3 WDVD seems to be playing more rhythmic-type songs, by artists like Lady Gaga, La Roux, and others. Does anyone else here think that station may be shifting from Hot AC to something that's more Top 40/CHR-ish?

If that's the case, does anyone foresee either 100.3 or 105.1 filling in the Hot AC gap that 96.3 may leave behind? Maybe Jay Towers will try to move 100.3 into more of a Hot AC sound. I had to laugh when I heard "Telephone" by Lady Gaga/Beyonce on 100.3.
 
Hot AC is CHR's cousin. They both are somewhat the same. I noticed their sister in NYC WPLJ is playing almost the same songs, both play La Roux, our local 104.3 MYfm is playing Ke$ha's "Your Love is My Drug" and I think I've them play Mike Posner's "Cooler Than Me"... also seen the same for WTMX Chicago. Talk about variety...
 
It just seems like, up until recently, 96.3's music mix has emphasized rock-leaning Hot AC songs...not rhythmic-leaning songs. Now their playlist seems to only have about half of its songs on the rock end of Hot AC and the other half on the rhythmic side. Does this just mark a shift in what Hot AC sounds like? It seems like Hot AC should also be about pop/rock/rhythmic songs from the '90s as well. It seems like 96.3 now only focuses on music since the mid '00s or so.

I guess I don't quite know why this shift is happening on the station when there are already other rhythmic and mainstream CHR stations in the Detroit market.
 
Agreed, unfortunately its the new sound of hot AC. Not really your mother's typical "at-work station" anymore. Doesn't this also cause a problem with clusters that have both a CHR and a hot AC in the same market?
 
It's not just WDVD, it's a national trend. Hot AC is playing a lot more rhythmic pop than they used to. I noticed WDVD is trending down in the ratings, I don't know if that has anything to do with the change in musical direction or not.
