Is AMP radio failing everywhere?

After seeing AMP struggle here in Philly and finally give in to Q102, I happened to notice that the format is also losing badly in Los Angeles and New York. I didn't listen much to AMP radio because when I did tune in, they weren't really giving me any reason to choose them over Q102. Is CBS just not very good at programming Top 40 stations? Are there any "winning" AMPs out there?

What is your criteria for "losing"? The LA MSA has 73 commercial stations and KAMP in LA is that market's 9th highest biller. It is 4th in 18-34 women on average. And it does not have the multi-million dollar expense of Seacreast. I'll bet CBS is quite happy with the performance.

"Amp" is a brand, not a format. It is a name they apply to contemporary formats, irrespective of the flavor. It is very hard to find a name today that is not in use and registered somewhere in the US, so companies tend to use names that they can apply even to different formats in different markets.
