Is Anybody.....

Actually, I heard tell of some folks in Taylor who were looking to start up a small "community oriented" full service station....a couple of them I worked with back at the old WTLQ....they seemed serious about it but I think they have run into some money problems. Sad to say the last radio job I had was the closest to old school fun in a long time...and it didn't last long.

So how much would it cost to say, get 92.1 FM off the hands of Shamrock...or for that matter 102.3 FM or 103.1 FM? Just curious...

You're gonna have to really forgive me here, "Keeth," but this venture would fall on its face inside six months. No no one loved those old days in radio more than me, but to think they can be duplicated, to think anyone, someone, can bring them back is just plain wrong. Too much living in the past is unhealthy, and I know full well that you understand that. I tend to think that those who believe WARM, or a WARM-type station, can be resurrected are people who never worked eight seconds in the industry, and therefore have no real sense of what's involved. They have zero idea of the money necessary to simply buy a license, never mind outfitting a station and x-mitter. Then, who they gonna hire? Yeah, there'd be some real heavy-hitters interested in an eight buck an hour part-time radio gig. I doubt most high school kids would even consider it.

What would a station in Taylor do, serve Greater Taylor? Keeth, we both know there are those out there who think something like that can be done and would be successful. The very thought is so absurd I have trouble dealing with it. Sorry, don't mean to burst bubbles...and I still think you're a great guy!

HEHEH Thanks, Vince...I think you're aces, too. Actually, I talked to those guys just this morning and they couldn't come up with the money fast enough...the station is on, but it's broadcasting religious programming. Now they're on to shooting stuff for Comcast Public Access in Scranton. A better choice, I would say.
