Great to have the board back---Is anyone here?

A thought starter---- Who in heaven's name is in charge of radio operations at NKU? What a mess. Sad to see my beloved Rebel a shadow of it's once really pathetic self. Is the AM even on the air anymore? If these dolts operated in the private sector, they would have been launched by now---Hello---- NKU board members---wake up!

Just tuned by. The AM is back on and simulcasting the FM. As for programming? I haven't spent much time listening to any Middletown radio since Moon and Chubby left. ;)
 
Middletown looks like the apocalypse. I am all for local radio, but I cannot imagine anyone buying the AM and making money in a place that desperate.
 
Middletown may be in bad shape but you do have Springboro, Lebanon, Monroe and Trenton not being served.
I am sorry to say the Rebel is dead.

partymarty if you were in charge of programming WPFB AM 910 what would be the format.
What shifts would be local and what network would you go with.

WPFB has had a rich history and the market deserves coverage of high school sports, news and coverage of local events.
There have been successful local radio stations. The Eagle in Lawrenceburg has done a great job as well as many other stations.

The problem is the station does not have a high value right now.
 
Wasn't "Wild Wally" doing mornings on the Rebel at the end?

As for Springboro "being served?" Lived there for 13 years and have never heard any objection to the service from a multitude of Dayton and Cincinnati radio and TV signals.

For that matter, has there been any objection in Middletown about the WPFB stations going away? Seems to me those depressed economy Middletown residents are probably a little more concerned about keeping their job, feeding their family and heating their house than to be worried about whether or not they hear Middies basketball play by play on an AM station that most have long forgotten.
 
910 should be turned off or apply for a translator. Why would anybody listen to this station? Sure you might make some money with high school sports for four hours on Friday night. What do you do with the other 164 hours in the week?

My son in law is from Middletown. He and my daughter went back to visit over the holidays. They concur... It is a mess.
 
Local local local--- make money on local/area sports, news, obits, lost dogs-- fill a wider niche with daily programming--local--local--did I say local? I never said it would be easy, but you should be able to earn a decent living as a solo owner
 
WPFB's translator was the 94.5, previously licensed to Port Union, now used downtown by WLW. 106.3 Auburn was originally on the old 96.5 stick on the west side of Hamilton, has since been moved to a different frequency at the WLW site in Mason, but is currently silent due to interference with WZLR Xenia. You almost need a flowchart to keep up with these gypsies.
 
Stereo, I don't remember 94.5 ever being connected to WPFB. NKU put it on the air as a northern translator for WNKU. When they bought 105.9, they didn't need it anymore and sold it to Clear Channel. 106.3 is on the air from a site in Mount Healthy and is half of the Project 100.7 & 106.3. You're thinking of the translator that was at 106.7 but caused interference to WNKR. It was moved to 95.5 and is on the air.

This is the way i remember it. I knew that PFB had a translator as one of my Lawyers mentioned it to me.
 
The original application for the 94.5 Construction Permit file # BNPFT - 20030317KMA has NKU listed as the applicant. I don't see WPFB or the Braden stations on any applications for this station.

If you owned AM 910 WPFB what would be your format of choice be?

Adult Standards
Oldies


If you picked all sports - what network would you go to. ESPN and Fox seem to be out of the equation because of them being in Cincinnati and Dayton.
You can't be local for all dayparts so when would you be local?
