Is anyone on this board gonna acknowledge the Entercomm SHAKEUP?!

God the Austin portion of this board is so lame. Not one mention of todays shakeup on Westbank Drive. At least 10 employees get a pink slip on Entercomm's takeover day. Nice touch for company that promised employees to maintain the same consistant staffing there. What Bullsh*T! How many times can radio people hear the same lies from take-over giants during a move-in. The G.M. and Magic GSM, DOS get the axe, plus tons of part timers, marketing peeps, show producer of Magic, etc. Is this the first wave?? No way of knowing from cost cutting Entercomm bringing more lean face-less radio to Austin. Someone hit the voicetrack button and put the cluster on Auto....depressing.

Are you really surprised this happened? Regardless of which business you work in or who buys you, you're going to hear the "no changes" line, and it's almost always going to be untrue. Entercom (as well as Wilks and Regent) has a reputation for lean operations while CBS is known for bloated ones. That's not a good combination.

i don't really listen to much of austin's stations anymore, instead i mostly listen to cds or internet radio. the radio giants have destroy radio. another giant is clear channel which is going down. hopefully the small time operators will be comming back to radio and make it better and the giants will be out of business.

Entercomm has flipped several of their stations recently in various markets and let quite a few great people go. It seems to be that nature of the beast now. CC is doing the same thing nationwide. Fewer people to do more work. The business is in its worst state ever! Can it get worse? Yes. A MM in a cluster where I consult says that there are more firings expected before the end of the year. Merry Christmas.

i've been reading alot how flat sales are at radio stations, listenership is also dropping, big business consolidations, firing is the blame of big corporate owners (greedy) that is killing radio today, i feel that radio is on life support almost dead. i also from time to time try out the radio stations and found nothing to much interesting anymore. THE STATIONS I LIKE FROM BACK THEN WERE: KOKE FM, THE HAWK, OLDIES 103. i think bob-fm should leave the newer song' s off and stick with the older songs, less disco more classic rock, little of poprock, classic country and oldies.

KOKE-FM, The Hawk, Oldies 103? Are you serious? KOKE FM was in the 70's, The Hawk was a ratings joke, and Oldies 103 was good in the 90's until they started playing 'b' sides. Radio isn't dead, it's just evolving... just like industies everywhere. Sure CC is a heartless company, but so is Dell.
