Is anything going on with "i"?

I'm no expert or anything; but shouldn't "i" have something beyond infomercials? Wasn't that the whole point of the name change? To run independent programing? All I'm seeing is infomercials and the same syndicated stuff they were running when they were PAX. How can they last through 2006 without airing anything that anyone wants to watch?! Or was the name change just to give the network a few more months of life before the whole concept dies a horrible death?
______________

The only shows that I/PAX airs now are reruns of their own shows(Sue Thomas F.B. Eye,Doc,Mysterious Ways),reruns of Donny Osmond's Pyramid and Richard Karn's Family Feud from the previous season(2004-2005),infomercials and religious programming. Which is sad because I would like to see them show reruns of certain shows that haven't been seen in a long time like Eight Is Enough,Big Valley,Scarecrow and Mrs. King,Remington Steele,The Lucy Show,The Love Boat,Fantasy Island,Here's Lucy,Doris Day Show,Julia,Bill Cosby Show(1969-1971 show which Bill starred as basketball coach Chet Kincaid),Real McCoys, etc.

But I don't think that the I network will not be around much longer because they have run out of options and how many people during the day watch infomercials all day and all night long.

I don't think the whole point of the name change was to change the newtork. It was to make the network or the individual stations more "saleable."

As hard as it is to believe people DO watch infomercials. And they watch them a lot.

No one wanted to buy Pax, it was a failure. So let's change the name. Yes in reality it's the same old failure but it takes away the stigma for the buyer and seller.

Pax or "I" is just trying to hang in to get the best price for their stations, from NBC or whoever.
______________

With the exception of the Bill Cosby Show and maybe the Real McCoys all the shows you mentioned have been rerunned to death. The Lucy Show has never been successful in reruns (it ain't I Love Lucy). I would like to see I, or any cable network run old series if they have NEVER been on - Nick At Night, TV Land, Hallmark, Pax, whatever. I don't ever need to see another channel run
The A Team, Miami Vice, or Charlie's Angels. How about running some shows that haven't been around and around the dial? By the way, I get the national feed of I (Pax)and durring the day they run public domain epeisodes of Ozzie & Harriet, My Little Margie, The Beverly Hillbillies and some old movies. The quality is poor but it sure beats an episode of the Love Boat for the 100th time.

Which was on Odyssey/Hallmark until at least the beginning of this decade, if not later. I agree that it'd be cool if someone ran it again, though.

FamilyNet has it, BTW.

Most shows that have enough episodes to be viable in syndication have already been around and around the dial, even if it's just on some dinky LPTV network or a digital cable. Encore's action and Western channels run a lot of older neglected series within those genres. I wish they had a comedy channel.

Believe it or not, many of the shows you mentioned (Eight Is Enough, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Remington Steele, and The Love Boat) were all on PAX at one time but are no longer on. BTW-Flipper: the new adventures (old and new episodes) was on PAX as well.

How about "Mr. Belvedere" & "Gimme a Break;" Both shows haven't been seen in years, and both probably have enough episodes for a good syndication run.

Apparently there are two national feeds of "i" ... one for cable and one for affiliates. For reasons I will never understand, DirecTV carries the affiliate national feed, so none of those public domain shows are carried. All I get all day is infomercials.
______________

I am very surprised that Gimmie A Break hasn't been released on
DVD yet. Alice is another one too. Gimmie A Break was around for I know at least 6 years and was available in syndication for awhile in the late 80s/ early 90s. Dittos with Belvedere. Come to think of it, USA ran reruns of Gimmie back in the mid 90s.

Not sure if it airs anywhere now but ever since Nell Carter died, seems like that Gimmie A Break, as far as being aired goes, died with her.

Good news!!! Gimmie A Break's 1st season is coming to DVD on February 14th.

On the other hand,Alice is going to be on DVD but only as a best of compliation of favorite episodes scheduled for sometime this spring or summer. Warner Brothers seems to have a bad habit in them showing "best of's" instead of 1st season episodes. Chico and the Man,F Troop, and Welcome Back Kotter have received this treatment as well. Seems that Warner Brothers is concentrating on getting Full House and Fresh Prince onto DVD moreso than they do any other shows in their lineup. Hopefully that will change when all seasons of Full House and Fresh Prince get onto DVD so we can concentrate on getting Alice,Chico And The Man,F Troop, and Welcome Back Kotter onto DVD sets.

Actually, they did both for "Friends" season 1. I've seen both the entire season as a package and the highlights version which we have in a big $5.50 discount bin where I work.
