Is Bert ready?

I believe it's a foregone conclusion that Bert will inherit a great many former Kidd Kraddick affiliates. Is he ready for the challenge? Is he prepared to make his show more family friendly (less gay talk, for example) in order to maintain the peace? Thoughts?

And, what about gay talk isn't "family friendly"?

1. Kidd Kraddick also talked about gay stuff on this show, and his show is far from raunchy.

2. The KKITM's fate hasn't been decided yet, so this is too early discuss. Plus there's a high possibility that they'll continue the show with the remaining cast. So there's a possibility Bert won't inherit anything.

Seems this is a no-brainer for Cumulus. Kidd was already a fixture on a number of the Big Fluffy Cloud Company's HotAC and CHR stations. Jan "I'm the most intelligent programmer the world has ever known" Jeffries, aka Jan "A Legend in his Own Mind" Jeffries was the one who ultimately put Kidd on many of those stations, prior to the company beginning to roll Bert Weiss and company out to a few of their other markets. Is is a bit morbid to think of Weiss and company swooping in like vultures to put the Cumulus-branded show on more Cumulus stations? Would you count on Cumulus to do any less, knowing the nature of the way that company is run and the vultures at the top of the food chain there?

The Bert Show will be on any and all Cumulus stations that have carried Kidd's show up to now. Look for the satellite channels at Cumulus Media Networks to be heating up any day now. Is Bert ready for the bigtime? Who the heck knows? Only one way to find out for sure...

RIP, Kidd. And rest easy, knowing you just handed the $5000 empty suit in Chicago at Clueless Broadcasting a huge bonus check for saving his masters a fortune! And he didn't have to do a darned thing.

Then again, Jan is in Chicago where the mob rules. Reckon he had Kraddick offed from his high-rise pad? Just wondering.

Just got word that the most likely scenario is Kellie & Al will take over. So Bert likely won't get any affiliates from KKITM.

"gay talk" is hot right now. Gay marriage is a huge issue in the news. Modern Family is one of the hottest shows on TV. Gay is everywhere -- like it or not. So Bert (or any other radio host) talking about it is keeping up with what's hot in the news.

It is a valid question to ask. At the end of the day, the stations still have to serve their audiences and clients to serve. The sooner they can make decisions on programming changes, the sooner they can get back to normal day to day operations.

Yes, the loss is tragic, but if you dwell on it for too long, you risk losing momentum. This is why I don't really like "best of" programs during vacation times. In an ideal world, stations would use programs that could serve as a back up plan if something happened.

I don't see why not. He's already in D.C., Nashville, and Indianapolis and Kidd's national affiliates ranged from medium-to-small markets

It's not going to be as easy as "Kidd died, we're done with the show." There's contracts in place, so if they continue on with the current cast, they'll either have to run the show or eat the contract and also pay for another show. (Unless things have changed in the past couple years, the Kraddick show wasn't just barter, but also cash.)

Cumulus may go to Bert, but they don't own the show -- Kidd Kraddick's company does. That might make it easier, switching one show for the other, but it's by no means a done deal.
