Caught his last few minutes before midnight tonight and this buffoon (degrading to other buffoons, sorry) attempts to pass himself off as a sports expert...just because he spent a few years with his "pal" Vinny. Talking about LSU's win over "UC-Irvin", not Irvine, he made the statement the Anteaters were the best pitching team the Tigers had faced all year. WTF! Was he watching the same games the past three days I saw? He couldn't name one of their pitchers. Save your money WWL. Put those pitiful religious programs back on because God knows he pathetic and doesn't deserve a paycheck. Give us something to listen to!

Then let me rephrase the statement...is management at WWL the worst for subjecting us to should idiocy? Once the station hits 7pm, there's a significant drop off in entertainment value. "People you can trust" billboards? How about "people with some intelligence you can stomach listening to". Maybe, they could replace Kenny's picture with that horrid mug of Mitchell on the website. Stupid is as stupid looks.
 
WWL's numbers didn't necessarily go up based on dropping the religious block from 10p-12mid. Come to think of it, did WWL drop David J. Smith or vice-versa.

I liked hearing Smith on an AM at night. The eschatology-based preaching sounded perfectly eerie. His worst day beats George Noory on his best day.

My curiousity is why they let this audience panderer and licker with a depth of intelligence that doesn't exceed garden weeds, stay on with the salary they were paying him at KOOL. Ask him if it was true about the cash money he had hidden in his wall at home and he had to rush home and salvage it before remodelers found it. Is this guy really worth a high salary in a junk slot at night, when they could be *making money* with religious and infomercial broadcasts?

If they're holding him so he won't bring his "name" to the other FM talker, then they're crazier than I thought. This guy has nothing to give. He only takes. Pal.

Mr. Fields the cookie man has apparently lost his mind with this waste-of-money long-stale cookie. Look at their corporate stock chart for the last few years. Down, down, down. Yet they keep shoveling money to this long-ago loser.
 
Lateniteskip, i think the Statler Bros made a song about that money."No more money in the wall, that don;t bother me at all" hee hee..I love hidden stash..But he's got a great paying job and you probably don't,so be kind if you could.
i bet he and Bob Walker have great name recognition in the big Easy.Besides, don't listen if you don't like his show.lots of buttons on that radio,PAL.Please work on being kinder and more positive.it'll do wonders for your mental health.Thank you
 
Wow, you guys are brutal! I don't live in the market, but i often dx WWL at night on my way home from work in Knoxville, TN. I actually really enjoy Bob Mitchell's show and usually catch his final hour most nights and really look forward to it. Just wondering, what do you hate so much about his show? Personally, I like it because it's really conversational and fun and not just the same old boring political junk re-hashed for the billionth time. He does do political and local issues related to New Orleans, but he keeps it fun and mixes it with fun topics and trivia. Also, instead of setting an agenda every hour about what has to be discussed, he lets his listeners kind of lead him and talk about whatever interests them. Personally, I find this refreshing. What would you prefer in his place; another syndicated rightwing blowhard or more boring sports programming?

As I said, I'm not from the market and had no idea about Bob's past history as a dj and personality, but just based on finding his show on WWL a few months back, I immediately loved it. I guess that just goes to show that different types of topics and hosts appeal to different types of people. But personally, I wish there were more hosts like Bob Mitchell, who sounds friendly instead of hateful and actually has fun and talks with the listeners instead of "preaching" at them.

Anyway, just an outsiders view. I was just really surprised that he was that disliked by some. He seems pretty harmless and fun to me.

It's one thing to talk about it and another to know what you're talking about. It's the same lame stuff rehashed week after week. He advertises his stupidity and doesn't even know it.

Fun topics like "if you were a pizza, what kind of pizza would you, pal"? Now that's got a lot of entertainment value for a 50,000 watt station. Letting his listeners lead him? It's called being inept, being lazy and sounding like it. He's been riding coattails and brown-nosing for years.

Two hours of just carrier would be a welcome change. I'm sure there's something about Knoxville that gets your goat. We just sit down here scratching our heads wondering what we did to deserve this moronic babble.
 
BRH,For a morning show host over 35 years to talk show convert,Bob Mitchell actually does a pretty good job.Most of these posters just air personal vendetta;s from the past or just envious,there not on the big 870.Bayoublue2, just don't listen,same post directed to lateniteskip applies to you.No one is forcing you to listen.
 
Actually, Bob Mitchell isn't that bad. Or good. He's listenable. Why isn't there a post is Tommy Tucker the worst? Is there any one that go's on and on about moronic stuff and says strupid stuff and has no clue of professional radio manners? I mean, where is the outrage?
 
Okay...Tummy Pucker sucks too. It sounds like he on, simply to amuse himself. His repetative attempt at comic wit is stomach turning. A massive ego and a short fuse...that people have witnessed both at Boomtown. IMO but ask around.

Mitchell can't even get his BIO on the website correct. Technical folks who have been around will tell you, he was let go in the early 80's after Stortz sold (not the mid 70's as he states). Ed Muniz switched formats to oldies on 95.7 in the early 90's (not the mid 80's). He wasn't even on it in the beginning. He was pulled from LITE 105 because he couldn't relate to the younger audience they were after. Ask any engineer about "him" and watch the facial expression you get.

Entercon, CC and Citadel have no idea WTF they're doing...but that's one persons opinion.
 
I think one of the tipoffs long ago of how out of touch he was with the younger audience even then was in the mid 80's when he was on LITE and he repeatedly introduced songs by Cindy Lauper as by "Cindy Lopner".

He was out of touch 20 years ago and he's beyond out of touch now.

And yes, Menotti, I don't have to listen. And I don't. Just knowing he's there is enough to keep me away. If I had heard him refer to "UC Irvin" I would have thrown up at such blatant ignorance. No, you listen to him. He seems to be your speed and mentality. What kind of pizza would you like to be? Such love should not go unfulfilled when two people deserve each other.

By the way, did you notice he's not listed in the TV commercial among the "People You Can Trust". I wonder why. Or do I ?

I for one am proud of 870 for keeping this guy on the air!!! Everyone knows we have no space at the inn for the lame and loopy in New Orleans. Their doing us all a favor, keeping those hospital beds open for us good citizens
 
Getting close to show time. I heard a rumor that tonight's show will pander to the builders with the question "If you were a nail, what size would you be?"

You can only imagine the idiot listeners who get "into" this crap.

Bring back the religious broadcasts about Yahweh !!!
