Is Boston "Gangnam Style"?

It's amazing how little one hears the song "Gangnam Style" on Boston radio considering the success of Gangnam Style both world wide and here in the US. Probably, it's due to a hesitancy on radio programmers to embrace music that's not in English, out of fear that Caucasian listeners will turn the radio station. Little do they realize, audiences have matured. They don't care. Otherwise Gangnam Style would never have become You Tube's most watched video of all time.

And soon you can add "Gangnam Style" to the list of songs that get heavy airplay at wedding receptions ("Macarena," "Chicken Dance," Alanis Morissette songs, et al).

The song is the "Don't worry be happy" of the 2010s. Its a fad and it's over.

Gangnam Style is the fad, but more and more non-English music is the trend. That's the point. The question is when will programmers get hip to it.

It's amazing how little people who come to this board actually listen to the radio.
4 letters for you.
W O D S

It's in heavy rotation there and it does fit their format.

True! AMP played the song 68 times this past week after having been in power rotation (approx 130 spins/week) over the past two months. It's still in Kiss 108's top 40 too.

130 times? That's roughly a 75 minute rotation. Am I the only one that finds that completely ridiculous?

You're not in the target demo. The target demo loves it. Don't worry about them, they'll grow up.

Maybe when they go with live jocks the spin rate will drop to about 120-125/week in power rotation.

Alanis Morisette at a wedding? What kind of weddings are you attending?
