Is Britney Spears fading from CHR radio?

I've noticed lately that I don't seem to be hearing much Britney on CHR stations these days. Are any stations still playing much of her music? I'm especially thinking of songs like "Till the World Ends", "Hold It Against Me", "3", "If U Seek Amy", "Circus", and "Womanizer".

"Till the World Ends" and "Hold It Against Me" seem to have faded pretty quickly. What about those others from '08 and '09? Is any station playing those anymore?

Exactly what the above poster said. I still hear "I Wanna Go" as a recurrent quite frequently, as well as occasionally "Womanizer." Other artists, like Lady Gaga and especially Ke$ha, have hits that have disappeared. It's just the nature of the format.

I never hear any of Britney's songs pre-2008. Just like so many other rhythmic songs from the past that are past recurrent stage, what format is there to play them on? Some CHR songs that cross over live on through Hot AC and AC, but those that don't just disappear. Nowhere for them to go.

I hear Toxic in rotation alot on a few stations. Mostly Hot AC's like KBIG in LA and KZPT in KC. KHJZ in Honolulu will play Baby One More Time every blue moon. Circus, 3 and If U Seek Amy just disapeared from radio.

KMVA occasionally throws in some Britney...but they also throw in Tiesto, Spencer & Hill, Skrillex, Afrojack, etc...

Pink fading? She had a couple of big hits last year in "Raise Your Glass" and "Perfect", both #1's on CHR.

The Peas had a ton of hits in 2009-2011, but save for "I Gotta Feeling", they vanished...so has their stuff from earlier in the 2000s. Their songs don't even stick around very long on CHR. After that, there's nowhere for them to go. I thought Jason Derulo was annoying, I'm not crying over that disappearance.

Just because radio isn't playing Britney as much doesn't mean she's fading. As already noted, she got a lot of radio play from her hit singles last year. I don't see her being on top of the world like she was during the first half of her career, but she's still quite relevant on CHR.

Jason Derulo had a injury eariler this year. Thats why we havent heard anything new from him. Pink is still very popular and her songs are in heavy rotation on Hot Ac radio. Black Eyed Peas are taking a break. Thank God. Fergie wants to start a family and give her solo career another try.

I don’t think any of those artists are fading, including Britney. I was being facetious and it didn’t work :-[

As far as fading, what about Beyonce? Her last hit was a disappointment.

Beyonce's latest music has been more of an R&B type rather than pop. She's not done. I think her career from this point will be like Britney's: riding a wave of highs and lows.

You may be right, but isn't rhythmic AC a format that fits some of these songs? Why does it never work? Seems as if every rhythmic AC evolves into either CHR or Urban Oldies.

Z100 New York has put a few Britney songs into recurrent rotation over the last week or two (mostly from the last album).

Likely her appearance as a judge on "The X-Factor" show is the reason for the revival. Although Z100 in particular has always shown an affinity for Britney's music, even during the darker times.

I'm more wondering if Taylor Swift is fading from CHR. "Eyes Open" only reached 20 at CHR and the single only got enough downloads to Hit 19 and fell fast.

It didn't do much on AC, either, which always guaranteed success for Swift in the past. She had a track called "The Story Of Us" last year which flopped on CHR. I wouldn't miss her if I never heard from her again on CHR; she was on so many formats with such big hits in 2008-2010, that I got sick of her. Not the only overexposed artist, though.

I've been specifically hearing "3" quite a bit in recurrent rotation lately. That one must be testing well.

I don't miss hearing Taylor Swift on CHR either. "Eyes Open" was horrid. :D

I agree, too early to say that Britney is "fading." If her next album flops and its singles do likewise, then we can say that she's "fading." But I think "Till The World Ends" will remain a CHR staple for a long time. "Hold It Against Me" turned out to be something of a non-hit, it seemed to me; it peaked early because it was a new Britney single and then dropped very quickly. However I still hear it on occasion.

Her pre-2003 music all sounds very dated now, but "Toxic" is fresh and sounds as good now as it did nearly a decade ago.

As far "If U Seek Amy" is concerned, that one needs to be handled with gloves and locked away in a vault for eternity. Bleccch. Still enjoy "Womanizer" and "Circus" though.
