Is Brittney Leaving KTVK?

While there are a few posts on this buried in the Rich Dahlquist thread, this needs higher prominence. It has been noted that 3TV recently posted a weekend meteorologist position on their website. The job posting specifically mentions weekend am and pm duties, which would be Brittney's job.

Does anyone know Brittney's status? Could April be deciding to be a stay at home Mom? Any insider information? fenix, where are you?

When 3TV made their big announcement last week there were a lot of speculations on what the big news was. Some of the better guesses were: 1) Scott got married; 2) Scott was pregnant; 3) Gina was pregnant; 4) Kaley was pregnant and 5) April was going to become a stay at home mom.

After Kaley made her announcement, she also mentioned that April is not planning on staying at home and should return to the station soon.

I am not a regular viewer of 3 but have noticed Brittney does both weekday and weekend jobs. Maybe she is just wanting some personal weekend time.

I missed Kaley's announcement. Congrats to her and her family.

I always thought that 3TV needs 4 meteorologists on staff. They have a ton of news hours and it's always interesting how they shift bodies around when one of the three is on vacation or out sick. It usually causes someone 6 to 7 work days per week.

It is strange how 3TV hired Josh Deberge to help out while April is on maternity leave, but only have him working the weekend nights. I don't remember how they worked it out when April had her first child. I thought Kaley filled in on weather duty more than one morning a week back then.

Josh has a real job during the week (Communications Director for Make A Wish International). So, he's only available on the weekends for the most part. When April had heard first child, Kaley did the weather two or three days per week to give Brittney adequate time off.
Again, Kaley was only a secondary anchor of GMAZ at the time (similar to Stella today).

It still does not answer why KTVK would hire Josh and not use him for all of the weekend "news" shows. If his "real job" keeps him too busy, why apply for this position?

But then again, KTVK is also looking for an Executive News Director and an Assistant News Director. Maybe the current ones are not doing their job.

Because he's cheap and, perhaps, Josh isn't skilled as a "features" reporter. I would imagine that it's pretty difficult to be out in the field for 3 hours, trying to think up questions to ask event planners and participants...oh and do the weather, too.

Plus, Brittney's temporary shift is not impossible. She works Tuesday through Friday all mornings plus half-days Saturday and Sunday. Remember that this is only for 12 weeks, not a lifetime. When I was in college, my summer job required Monday through Friday (6am to 2pm) plus Saturday mornings (6am to 9am). I was able to "sacrifice" for 12 weeks during the summer to earn money. I'm sure that Brittney feels the same way.

That said, she might be moving to greener pastures where she doesn't have to work all weekend.//

I don't know the Britney story but whomever they have that works off screen voice only from the field for today's stories was miserable. I never heard a name announcement for her, but Britney (she's the one with long blonde hair..?) came on right after this terrible new girl. She paused nervously, had no vocal fry, proposed inflections all in "wrong" places and basically made me cringe. The kids that do the Walter Cronkite "Newsline" on PBS were better. 3TV declined the usual "Thank you, So and So for that story" I think they were so embarrassed. Mind you she was a voice only reporting from Casa Grande, so I'm hoping she's only doing reports from location. I wish I knew her name. She's really terrible (maybe it's best I don't know..)

Brittney is doing most of the morning weather, plus live reporting on weekend GMAZ from events around the valley. I'm not sure who you're talking about -- Stella, the secondary GMAZ anchor, has blond hair but is usually on-screen when she's reporting.

Saw Royal doing the Saturday evening weather as well as Sunday morning GMAZ (don't know if he was also on Saturday GMAZ).

So much for hiring a "relief" weather personality to cover things.

Brittney was there yesterday mornign. Royal pops up on Sunday mornings from time to time -- usually to cover for Brittney. Josh was there last night at 5pm and 9pm.

Having a full-time, relief weather person is generally considered too expensive in the current economy. Most stations don't even have a third sports person anymore.

Really, was a weather person actually needed this morning? Nothing changed from last night to this morning. Josh could have taped a couple of weather segments last night. Tess and Ryan could have read the current conditions and tossed to Josh's recorded forecasts (just like they do with sports).

No, Royal did the weather on Saturday at 5pm. (Did not watch the 9pm show).

Interesting. I watched the 9pm show and Josh was definitely there. OMG, that means that Royal worked all 7 days this week. What is the use of having other meteorologists if the chief met has to work everyday? To top it off, Kaley did the weather on GMAZ this morning! That means she had to anchor and do the weather!! :D

I'm still wondering why Brittney's job is posted! Perhaps someone knows what's actually going on???

All joking aside, I imagine that Brittney would love to NOT work all weekend long. As a presumably single young woman, working mornings and evenings on the weekends would severely limit her social life. Honestly, if she could find a weekday morning job or even a weekend (Sat/Sun) evening job, it would be better than her current set of hours.

iHeardThat, did you find any reference to agents that she might be using?
