Is Bromo gone from KGB?

Did a search but couldn't find an answer...Is Bromo gone from KGB now? It's great the DSC is trying to get Ruthie back but would be even better if they tried to keep ALL the bit players together...

It may be he got a severance he was happy with - and I seem to recall that those who got a halfway decent severance had to sign an agreement not to talk about it. The state of radio being what it is, if you are a bit player on radio and someone offers you a decent amount of walking money, that's a blessing because the state of the industry is such that when the next round of firings come, the company won't have the money to do any more than the legal minimum, which is basically nothing. The smart ones who've been let go will NOT try to find another radio gig (not that many are available) but instead will do their damnedest to transition into something else. Granted the rest of the economy is pretty much operating the way Clear Channel has for years, but other sectors at least have possibility of recovery whereas radio has undergone a fundamental sea change.

it dont make much sence about bromo.ive called dave even e mailed him about bromo.nothing...its pretty pansy ass of him not to mention anything about bromo.i dont enjoy there show as much.maybee media hack cris can find out more .

Ruthie admitted on the air that she got a nine month severance package and is being paid every two weeks from it. I didnt realize she had been with Clear Channel that long. Anyone know how long Bromo was with CC for? He may be taking it easy for a while and just letting the checks come to him instead.

Yup, quite possibly...I just found it funny that Dave mentioned quite a few people that got the axe after the big layoff but has yet to mention Bromo at all...I always thought Bromo was pretty close to the DSC show considering all the stunts they put him through...I would have thought at least a mention that he's elsewhere now would be in the cards...
How long has Mal Hall been with the show? I would have thought that good comedy bits with Bromo would have outweighed news production and 'off the air' video clips from Mal (who quite frankly doesn't bring much to the show if you ask me)...

There is no "elsewhere" in radio these days

It's on the corner of Bain & Lee.

I know Mal has been there at least a few months as I've heard Dave plug a couple of stand up comedy shows for him. But since Mal produces the news for Shelly and since that was Chucko's former job before she left maybe he has been there longer than that.

dont care much at all for mal hall.sorry not funnny at all.!it is funny that noone mentions anything about bromo..flood the e mails to dave??are u up for it sd radio.net???

I did not have too. I received email from Dave, and it'll be in Monday's edition.

Thats good to hear...I sent an email early last week to the show as well to inquire...no response though...Although I'm sure it'll just to confirm what we all suspected, curtains for Bromo... :-[

So what was the deal with Ruth 66?

She's back because she's geting paid anyway?

Or did Dave make a deal with Clear Channel to get her back?

She's a daily guest on the show; and despite the browbeating that CCU is giving the show; Dave pays the freight for the station.

DSC is one of the best male-targetted morning shows I've heard in a lot of markets. Dave and Chainsaw are very talented. But CC removing Ruth and Bromo, only leaves "D" and "C" to make fun of Boyer. I still can't believe they laid off Bromo, they weren't paying him that much. DSC needed to dig into thier own pockets to bring Ruth back. Honestly, if CC wanted to save some serious coin without doing much to hurt the show, they should have blown out Shelley. Talk about way overpaid for what she contributes to the show, and out the door everyday at 10:05am.

She's the giggler.....

I always figured she was one of the luckiest people in San Diego radio having been able to tag along with the rest of the group from station to station.

 Shelley adds value to the show. She's the left side of the house, and does contribute. That can be discussed elsewhere, but she puts the 'S' in DSC. Err, you hopefully pick up on that.

Actually what is a disappointment is the slow realization that radio, newspapers, and television are doing the circle drain thing. February brought an end to FM talk radio in LA -- that was profitable, but not as profitable as music.

Same thing with Star 100.7. It was top rated, but had an expensive payment in talent. The profit margins as Jack is better. Even with the morning show earning one million, the rest of the day belongs to the voice in the head ... voice of Jack. The station lost the bragging rights to being number one; but is more profitable than before. Star 100.7 was starting to tarnish; and it was a 'good' exit strategy.
