Is Carry Pall still with WDJO

Hi Cincinnati,
I live in Philadelphia, and enjoy listening to WDJO via internet, but lately with all the record snow falls in the area, I had to listen to the local media. I noticed on their web site, Carry Pall's name is no longer on the schedule and not listed in the DJ profiles. He has a great show on Sunday Nights. I also enjoy Dangerous Dan Allen's - Rellay Big Show on Sunday Afternoon, and Craig Robert's Dail-A-Hit on Saturday Night. Also enjoy Dr. Boogie Jack Stahl, Ted McAllister, and the rest of the DJO staff.
Two Side notes: I used on listen to Dusty's Sunday Night SHow back in the 80's on WLW. Also, was able to find a copy of the New Lines-That Girl.

I feel badly that no one responded to your post about how you enjoy WDJO. For those of us that live here, this station is indeed a treat. The major investors love oldies music and work for very little money. They do the best voice tracking in the business and have a pretty broad playlist. They have a 12000 song library available to them, but do not play anything like that, of course. Most of the folks on the air have known each other forever, and have often worked together years ago. The signal is terrible, and night reception is virtually non existent, especially if you live over 10 miles from the tower. But for those of us that love this format, it is the best game in town....Now, to your question...I have no idea what happened to Cary. He used to post her once in a while, but told me in an email once that he didn't view this site often because he felt some folks were too critical and he didn't like the negativity. I don't think he is on, but I have no idea why. You know how radio and television goes; one day you are on the air, and the next day it's just like no one ever heard of you...Glad you enjoy our local station. I'm sure the guys that run it are glad you still listen.

You'll look long and hard to find an Oldies station that is programmed as well or sounds as good.

Cary is over at 1160......

Another one bites the dust. Last one out at WDJO "clap off" the lights.

Cary is a great guy and a great radio guy--- I'm sure he'll do well---

hey grumpy people:

This is not the same game we all signed onto when we got in. We all work harder and (hopefully) smarter and make less than we ever have. We still get to entertain (and/or COOK). But now rather than filing carts, checking logs, and taking xmitter readings we spend an hour prepping for a show and 30 minutes doing it---it really is odd, but if you work hard there is no reason it can't sound good....

as for the last one on "clap off the lights" be careful what you wish for-- decent, content driven local programming will probably go away one day as "one to many" programming gives way to "one to one". Good? Bad? Dunno. I'm old but I miss Bob Braun, Shreve, and Skipper. Not that things are worse now--- I love Alton, Guy and Pandora too--- just don't be so fast to wish doom on your enemies because when they go you will soon follow!

If you are here, you must love radio--- don't be so fast to bash your brother-- shoulder to shoulder and we might get some more years out of the medium we all love

Peace!

Great post Marty, and thanks for doing it. As a listener, I love the fact that DJO is the last of a breed, regardless of the format. I too miss the days before corporate media virtually took local programming away. I hope you never have to "clap off the lights". Best wishes

Excellent post Marty...we need more people with your positive point of view in radio. Rock on brother...

I still remember watching Bob Shreve one night (I think on channel 7) when he started singing the Schoenling jingle & knocked over a beer bottle or two. Some memories are keepers...and Bob produced several.

Marty Thompson, one of the best on Radio that makes Radio fun to listen to, no matter what station or format he is on. Thanks Marty good job !
A Good Positive comment on Radio, something that has been lacking here on these post for sometime. Marty I listen to you everyday on WDJO with no signal problems on your station during the daytime 30 miles outside of Cincinnati.

I have met Cary Pall several times , what a nice person I enjoyed listening to him on Sunday nights via the web stream , I wish him well where ever he lands in the market.
