Is Chattanooga next to go????

All Access is reporting on its website today(July 5th) that Citadel is rumored to be pulling the plug on Oldies outlet WOGT and replacing it with Country. And already they pink slipped their PD/morning man "Big" Al McClure. Stay tuned....

Look for the "Big" announcement Thursday morning. Looks
like Oldies WOGT (107.9) will do a WGOW-AM Hannity,
Rush, O'Reilly simulcast or move the current mostly
local talk talent WGOW-FM line-up down the dial to 107.9's
stronger signal and put the afore mentioned WGOW-AM line-up on WGOW-FM.
Either way, their will still be a lot of confusing G call letters
in Chattanooga. But, probably not an oldies station...

And, for what it is worth ---

The flip of oldies WMAK-FM in Nashville has turned out
to be the best thing to EVER happen to Oldies in Music
City. A day after Oldies 96.3 switched to JACK-FM,
Cumulus flipped Hot AC Star to Oldies 97.1 and took
the 96.3 local air talent along to 97.1. I think 97.1's
music is 100% better than the stale 96.3. They had
the top 500 songs (Firecracker 500) for July 4th
Weekend and it was a treat to listen to. Bravo to
Cumulus for creating a good Oldies station and I hope
it is reflected in their ratings. With all of the
Oldies stations demises we all are writing about here, it's
good to have a positive success story in the making.
And, it's not bad having JACK in Nashville, either.
It's getting serious talk, listenership and the trends
I have seen are pretty strong and in the case of
25+ females a shock! A possible win-win situation in
radio? Amazing?
Edited by tibbs on 07/07/05 01:17 AM.

Looks like, for now, they are moving Rush to the FM.
Not going to simulcast the FM at 107.9 just yet.
From what I heard, the just released trends showed the
Oldies format is still strong enough to keep and they
are upgrading the music library. Oldies is not dead in
TN. But it's sure been through a lot in 2005.
