Is Classic Rock 101.1 going away?

I don't see Rhythmic AC as it would hurt WFBC, and to an extent The Block. I'm sure it's a longshot, but how bout a throwback formact thats not to Rhythmic AL'S, but could br a compliment to FBC. As stated earlier the Audicy cluster is male dominated so this would be a good balance.
That would have to be 80s/90s Classic Hits then. Anything newer would hurt B93.7.

Lance what the possibility of Earth FM making a return. There's K-Earth 101 why not Earth FM unless Salem still owns the rights to the name. Yes I'm thinking oddball thoughts, but there would get your 80's 90's and some 2000's tunes without hurting B.

Yea, I think 80s/90s Classic Hits (Earth 2.0) instead of Classic Rock on 101.1 seems like a good idea, nice way to compete with WMYI.

The only thing left thats Classic Hits around Here (Since 🌎Fm) is 95.7 The Ride in Charlotte not even reaching Greenville. 97.1 in Atlanta is also a nice Classic Hits station.

Yea I think they'll bring Magic (AC) Back way Before an Earth FM clone, sadly, tho I prefer Classic Hits, something like an Older Leaning AC than Adult Hits Station that leans toward Classic Rock like WMYI

WROQ landed a 4.6 share in the latest ratings, with The Planet at 3.4. The Lake remains the highest rated station in the iHeart cluster, which makes them ripe for a takedown attempt.

My opinion on The Block remains the same, they’re doing well (right behind The Planet), but the translators cover the core areas they need to cover. I don’t see much gain in moving that format to 101.1, and they would have mentioned a move by now.

Audacy was purchased by Soros Fund Management back in 2024 and they've been slowly gleaning off stations since ... many conservative or in conservative areas.
Sorry to burst your conspiracy bubble... However Soros Fund Management was simply a financier of the deal. They have no control over Audacy, NOR have they "gleaned off" any stations in any market since then...

I would suggest anyone who believes that listen to 98.9 WYRD’s local hosts for a few minutes. 🤣

104.9 has some local shows that are produced in the Greenville iHeart studios, so they’re aware of it. They just don’t have nearly the local content of The Fan. They could shift 102.5 in to a more pop direction like The Lake in Charlotte if 104.9 went classic rock, or 104.9 could do a mainstream rock format like WQNS in Asheville or WVBZ in Winston Salem.

Also, 101.1 has the Panthers. I assume they’ll move them to 93.3 if 101.1 goes to a format like AC.

Another wildcard for 101.1 could be a format Audacy seems to like that must bill well regardless of ratings - rhythmic AC. Considering the numbers 92.5 and 100.5 are pulling these days, I can’t see a third country station. My $ is still on AC, but I’ve been wrong before and could be again.
I'm not sure if the Panthers could move because of the signal. 93.3 actually has an encoder or PPM and, in theory, gets into the Charlotte market. I doubt whoever has the rights in Charlotte would be happy about that

Not sure how it works with football, but, with MLB, signal overlap wasn't an issue. There was only an issue if someone tried to sell in another station's territory.

I wonder what the timetable will be for the conversion of 101.1fm. Will WROQ run liners directing listeners to 93.3 starting as soon as the time that the final John Boy & Billy Show airs for a period of time. Or will they start stunting with Christmas music most likely right away. Will the new format be launched after Christmas or right away. I guess we will have to 10am Friday. I think they will at least promote the move of Stoneman to his new slot on 93.3 at 3pm. I looked at Magics face book and dont see any signs that its coming back to a real signal but Audacy is holding their 101.1 plans close to the vest.

I remember in South Florida, a West Palm Beach station with a blowtorch signal was able to carry the NY Yankees, despite Miami having the Marlins. It was all because of the alleged coverage area was not in a market where there was another major league team. But the daytime signal more than covered Miami. And with so many NY area folks living in South Florida, it was a pretty good move.

The playlist for The Planet seems to have shifted in preparation for the demise of 101.1’s rock format. Only a little left post-2000 (“Paralyzer” and “Numb” for example), focus on the 80s/90s with staples from the 70s like Queen and Aerosmith sprinkled in.

I might actually listen now. Might
