Is Clear Channel done?

I know the local guys have relaxed, and feel bulletproof now, because they have been told "you guys are still here, because your big market pro's, now lets get some number's" And the sheep fell in line. But a connected friend, swears, big markets are next, that if your not in the top 3 of the age group that they can sell, in ppm, your whacked for piped in radio. can anyone back that up?

Just an observation here but 104.1 has been "Piped In" since flipping weekends from Alt to "Classic Rock" so what's to stop them???

No one who works in radio is "bulletproof." Last week was just the beginning. It isn't over.

CC cant gut the small-mediums anymore than they have. What makes you think they
would gut the large-majors. We were told to relax, and just be great on air, the smaller
markets were a drain on the company, and we make the serious money up here.People
brew a sigh of relief, and the mood in the building got brighter. What do you base "more cuts
are comming" ?

To clarify: I don't think Clear Channel is done, but they are carrying an enormous amount of debt.
To their credit, Bob Pittman has a broadcasting background.

Here's what Billboard ran recently:

I always worked for mom-and-pop stations, so I have not personally had to deal with "making the cluster profitable," just an individual station. In 2004, After 24 years, I decided I'd had enough and now work on my own projects.

The remaining CC talent may be paid better. The scary part is "get those numbers up." That is not always under a talent's control, because the markets themselves are not the same. I
noticed that even some folks who were doing VT are different although not all were cut. I guess some of that was shifted as well.

I wish you well. It's just not a very stable industry to work in for the majority of folks.

Fair enough, we arent hearing, or getting indication of impeding doom. They are talking game plans for 2012, there is no tension, just the rumor mill, which they told us, was was just trying to shake us up, and knock us off our game

Nothing like making an example out of good, hard-working employees to light a fire under the backsides of other good, hard-working employees. ???
