Is Collins Spencer out at WSB-TV?

Don't want to incite a lot of false speculation but I couldn't help but read the headline on NewsBlues this morning that read, "Atlanta morning news anchor suddenly out." I searched WSB-TV's web site and Collins' bio is mysteriously absent. If you Google Collins' name, you can still find his WSB profile but the link shows that the page was last updated April 10th, which was yesterday. Is something going on with Mr. Spencer and WSB?

Or is this another morning news anchor at another station?

My subscription to NewsBlues recently expired and I'm too cheap to renew it. Besides whenever I am a subscriber to it, nothing juicy every happens.

per NewsBlues:

<<<>>>

Collins Spencer, the former CNN Headline News anchor and Fox News correspondent who began anchoring mornings and noon on top-rated WSB-2-ABC in Atlanta (Market #9) in October 2005, is out. His bio has been removed from the station website.

does anyone happen to know why?

First it was Warren Savage, and now the guy who replaced him. Wow, can Pam Martin be that bad to work with, or could they not stand to hear Capt. Herb's voice every 5 minutes any longer? ;D

I don't know about why Collins' was let go (or his replacement), but I know Jovita Moore has to getting weary of the split shift she's been working...

From today's Atlanta Daybook (PR e-blast to area media)...

ATLANTA – Marian Pittman, news director for Channel 2 Action News, announced that Fred Blankenship will join Pam Martin and Karen Minton as co-anchor for Channel 2 Action News "This Morning" from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. and Channel 2 Action News at Noon. He begins with the station the week of June 25.

"Fred comes to us with terrific experience and he joins a great morning team here," said Pittman. "He really understands the special commitment that goes along with co-anchoring the morning newscasts for Channel 2. We look forward to him taking his seat beside Pam."

Blankenship most recently worked for KGTV in San Diego. Prior to KGTV he worked at KRON in San Francisco and KAKE in Wichita, Kansas. In Kansas he chased storms on a regular basis developing an expertise at covering severe weather.

Blankenship received the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for the documentary "About Race," a study of cultural and social behaviors of different ethnic groups.

A Los Angeles native, he received his degree from the University of San Francisco.

Fred and his wife, Paige, will move to Atlanta in the next few weeks.

WSB-TV is a Cox Television Station and the top-rated local newscast in the Atlanta television market.

And, if you saw his very very weak performance at the courthouse you have your answer as to why Ch 2 let him go.

I saw a Newsblues headline a while back saying that a forming Atlanta morning anchor was headed across the street. Is Collins joining WXIA in some capacity?

I assumed that the headline was not referring to Warren Savage (drugs) or Ken Watts (HDNet)...

They were probably talking about Brett Martin leaving his "Road Warrior" job at Fox 5 for "Better Mornings" ast WGCL. Not an anchor, but still a staple. Everyone else is solid for now.
