Is Dan Mason Headed to Cox Radio?

The CEO position of Cox Radio is being eliminated as far as I know as part of the privatization. One would figure Bob Neil might stick around as president or VP of the radio division, but once one has had a taste of the CEO water...

Also, Dan Mason was brought up to clean up the big mess from the previous guy...Joel Hollander, who destroyed stations like WCBS-FM/New York, and was responsible for the "Free FM" stinkerbomb.

I hope this rumor is right...because B98.5 will sound 1,000,000 better actually playing currents..."Fresh" currents... Not to mention the return of a station at 97.1 that brought Atlanta "Good Times" throughout the 90's (albeit in an updated form).

Today the blogs are saying this rumor is completely false.

This rumor did sound fishy...because Cox generally promotes from within (all divisions...TV, radio, newspaper, etc.). Rarely are outsiders brought in for management positions. The new CEO of Cox Enterprises was promoted from within.

Regardless...Bob Neil is apparently on his way out because of the reorganization. Who will replace him will be a mystery...but there is a 95% chance it will be from within Cox.
